Speaking of competition, I know the market as a whole is down on everything going on in the world, but boy am I glad I hedged by shorting some lcid and rivn who are in a race to see who can go to $0 first.

Sorry, I’m not the one making these companies fail.

Disclaimer: I don't care for the success of Lucid as a company or the performance of LCID stock. I don't own any shares. Just saying this before a certain individual comes in here to **** on this video.

I am posting it here because the video production quality is TOP NOTCH.

If people are considering these purchases you don’t think the viability of their parent companies is a topic that should be discussed? Lucid is losing $1b a quarter. Rivian is losing $2.5b, they have zero revenue and somehow has $2.5b in operating expenses. Tesla has $2.5b in operating expenses a quarter and they are going to do $100b in sales this year, how does Rivian have the same operating expense …. selling nothing! It’s insanity how these companies are being run into the ground Theranos style and only were able to go public and scam investors off the back of the success of Tesla and it’s stock. Take it from someone who has ridden Tsla on the way up for 2000% and shorted these scam companies on the way down now for -50% like I told everyone to in the stock thread. Good luck buying these cars, they will be antiques in a few years so could have appreciation potential. Nice production values on the videos though, they are going to need as much advertising as they can get.

4 months in and I still like my Mustang Mach E. I drive by gas stations and wave at the suckers.

Be honest... what are the negatives? There has to be something. :D I only know 2 or 3 people with Teslas and have their opinions about them, but don't know anyone yet with the Mach E, so I'm trying to gain more info from real-world drivers that have owned them for a while.

    1. It was our first new car since 2010, so a lot of the tech stuff has taken some time to get used to. For instance, I'm not sure I've figured out the automatic wipers yet.
    2. Speaking of automatic, I turned off the automatic bright lights because it would turn on the brights around town when it wasn't appropriate. They'd be on for like 3 seconds before the car figured out to dim them again. That's annoying to both me and other drivers. I'll probably turn it back on if I'm on a two lane highway at night.
    3. Sometimes your collision warning alarm goes off when a car in front of you slows down quickly to make a turn.
    4. The hands-free driving completely weirds me out.
    5. It seems that when you get a software update all your Sirius presets can go whacko and you have to set them again.
    6. Cold weather definitely has an effect on mileage. I assume really hot weather will as well. That said, when I do the the miles per kWh in my head, the car's mileage estimate has so far been conservative.
    7. One pedal drive (which is regenerative braking) takes some getting used to and while I use it around town, I turn it off before I pull into the garage because I don't want to misjudge the accelerator pressure. On normal drive mode, it slowly creeps into the spot.
    8. People stop and ask me about the car all the time. I always have to show them the frunk so they can go "oooh" and shake their head in disbelief.
That's about all I can think of at the moment. When you put that list against a full charge cost of $7 or so along with the other good things about the car (it's quick!), there's really not much on the bad side of the ledger.

I was going to get a Ford Lightning this year or next, but the extended range XLT now costs $20k more than the regular range XLT, putting it at about $75k and only a few grand lesser than the Lariat. Really stupid of Ford to tie what would be less than a $10k extended range option on the XLT to a $10k XLT option package. It makes the extended range XLT unaffordable to some, not to mention superfluous. If you can afford an extended range XLT, you can pop $2-3k for some other amenities and a moonroof with the Lariat. I'm not sure I want to pay close to $80k. I think I'll wait and see how things shake out on the EV truck market.

Did I not say from the beginning that the $45k version (which people got so excited for) would not exist for consumers? With starting prices so high, the Lightning will be a niche product, not mass market, as expected.

Biden White House announces Defense Production Act will be invoked for EV battery materials (msn.com)

“The President will issue a directive, authorizing the use of the Defense Production Act to secure American production of critical materials to bolster
our clean energy economy by reducing our reliance on China and other countries for the minerals and materials that will power our clean energy future,”
the White House said in a statement released Thursday morning, in conjunction with the announcement of a new release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

“Specifically, the DPA will be authorized to support the production and processing of minerals and materials used for large capacity batteries —
such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and manganese — and the Department of Defense will implement this authority using strong environmental,
labor, community, and tribal consultation standards,” the White House said.

I have been driving EVs for the past few years (first BMW, then Tesla). Will never go back. Will also power them from my own solar panels soon.

    Full charge $7

That's a real game changer, that's some serious savings on gas even when it was below 3 dollars.

How did you get from what he said that the 45K version will not exist for customers?

    Is $7 true?

With gas prices being the way they are, I spend $150 a week on gas. $7 a fill up would make that $20 or less.

If I commit to this job I'm doing, long term, it might push me to an EV. I drive 300 miles a day to work three days a week.
