Loved the e-tron in terms of build quality and driving feel. Insanely quiet inside. Instant torque is addicting. It wasn't a fast 0-60 car because of the weight but once in motion, you become one with the seat....lol

Range was okay. Definitely not a long distance/weekend trip car but since I work from home, I don't drive much. The longest trip for me is a once a week 80 mile round trip one. The ~200 mile range is plenty enough for that.

I am not looking right now for another car. Going to drive my beater around for errands but once the market settles down, I will get something else.
Haven't decided if EV or Gas for the next one. Whatever that has the better deal haha

Not gonna lie that's actually pretty cool, would not get me to buy a specific car but I would not mind having a car that did it.

Tesla and Ford trying to force me into a Rivian. I pre-ordered both thinking certainly I'll get one of the 2 by the time my son turns 16 in 2023.

If I was looking for a Truck, I would go with the Rivian, I really like the way it looks and the features.

Plus, It would be different from what most have.

But you have risk of the company not being around to honor warranties, hold value, or produce parts (A big deal when spending $75K). Also concerned about their self-driving system compared to Ford (obviously Telsa would be ideal amongst the 3, though I'm happy with highway capability only). It also has a very short bed (about 4.5ft). I kayak frequently, and that isn't big enough for the 10ft kayaks I usually take, and definitely not big enough for my 14ft Canoe (which just fits my F-150 bed. That means I'll need to use a trailer or buy a bed extender to fit them.

I really wish Rivian didn't charge so much for their paint. It is amazing looking in blue, but $2500 extra for paint is a bit much (I wouldn't spend more than $500). Look wise, it is my favorite even if the headlights bother me some.

Now that F-150 pricing is out, it does get to be more of a decision.

People run to E because they don't like going to gas stations, getting out of the car, and pumping their own gas. With an EV, you just plug it in when you get home for the day and unplug when you take off the next morning. No hassle. Let's say you drive 60 miles every workday. Start on Monday with a 200 mile range, recharge for 10 hours Monday night (My Mach-E gets a little over 4 miles per hour just out of a standard socket), and you're at 180 miles of range. Repeat for 4 more days and you'll come home on Friday with about 100 miles of range. Go shopping or something on Saturday where there is a faster charger and put 50+ miles on, charge most of Sunday and you're good to go again.

Or, you can get the upgraded outlet put in and add 22-24 miles per charging hour, which is what a lot of commuters do. That way, you only have to plug in 2-3 nights a week.

Even with the slow charge, it's so, so much easier than getting gas.

I remember I used to hate these things as a kid because they looked stupid and ancient. I had no idea they were made into the 70's/80's. I always thought of them as a 60's car. Some of those old 60s microbuses go for a pretty penny nowadays, and for some reason I like them now that I've gotten older -- especially fully-restored. I read about the return with the EV version a while back and got interested again, but I don't see myself driving a microbus even though I think I like it. lol.

Tell that to the people that feel robbed paying $10k for full self driving based on incorrect promises.

I may have missed it, but why not the F-150?

I'm just pissed at the cost for the extended battery. I expected $10k, but it costs $20k extra on the XLT.

You really don't enjoy the convenience of it until you get a level 2 charger. The trickle charging out of the standard outlet is annoying. I'd prefer a gas car over standard wall charging but level 2 charging is where it's at. Sure you gotta plug in more but you don't have to go to a gas station which these days can be quite dangerous. Mach E might be better with the standard charger because they have been reported to come closer to meeting their reported range where as a Tesla is just annoying as hell. For months it just annoiyed me that I would charge to 270 and barely get 170 miles out of it. Once I got the level 2 charging I don't even think about it anymore. I'm still dissatisfied with the Tesla and it's actual range vs my gas car but the convenience of charging at home with level 2 basically makes up for it.

Tell your teens +/- who may not want to go to 4 year Uni to learn how to work on these...pick 1 and learn it from the top down.

The amount of service they'll all need within the next 2-4 years is going to be ridiculous, and who/where do you get that done?

The further along EVs go the less I want one. All of these things look like soulless smart toasters with wheels.

I'll take an analog car with an aux in unless I'm forced otherwise.
