Yea, because San Antonio didn't win 2 recent titles playing a similar style. Pat riley preaches defense, o wait, he is JVG's mentor and he won a title last year. Some of it has to do with players. No coach would have gotten to the playoffs with last years injuries and roster. Quick question, when had he even had the better or equal team in a with us? I admit he isn't an offensive guru, but the in this copycat league, only 3 or 4 are good at this new era of basketball. Dallas and Phoenix. The game hasn't changed that much.

If a 29-36 record is 'wonders,' then what do you call 41-25? JVG must be a miracle worker by your standards.

That's what I've been thinking for a while. Sure, we all hope the Rocks go further, and with luck, they will, but if they lose in the 2nd, it has to go at least 6 games. A battle royal. A knock down, blood on the floor, WWIII series decided at the last moment.

If he manages that, he deserves an extension. Personally, I think if we get to that last moment, we'll win.

    exactly.

i think he gets the extension if he wants to stay, regardless of what happens.

Our two top stars are better than anyone in the league and other coaches have shown that they can get out of the first round with just that. Heck Phil last year took the suns to 7 win only one great player on the team.

I voted he will be back no matter what happen.

Rox is a very conservative organization in terms of coaching changes. I think they have doubts if JVG is good enough (they probably extend him already if they totally trust him). But based on how well Rox played when Yao was out and the fact that there is not a lot of quality coaches out there, it will be too risky to not extend JVG.

If Rox fail to make the second round, then the extension may be shorter.

Charlie Thomas fired Don Cheney. Rudy was already the coach when Les bought the team.

JVG needs to get the Rockets past the first round or we should find someone else who can.

Yes, you are a huge JVG fan, but unlike others, you have stood up and said....that if he does not get out of the first round, he should be fired.

Which, I totally agree with.....I am NOT a JVG fan, but conversely if he DOES get out of the first round, I think he should be extended too.

So, we say the same things, but from a different perspective.

    agreed

the only thing that will stop a reup would be a total meltdown and sweep in the first round.

It has already been reported that the ONLY reason why it hasnt been done already is so they can concentrate on the task at hand.

THe organization is pleased with the job he has been doing, that much is obvious from the reports.

all you people praying for him to be gone are just dreaming, like heypee said, he has to want to come back, if he wants to...he will.

top rated defenses every year he has been coach
outstanding winning percentage when our guys are healthy

you aint getting that with just anyh old coach.

Oh wait - you mean the same Miami team that averaged 100 points per game? Oh wait - you mean the same Miami team that had a higher offensive output then their final opponents - the Dallas Mavericks??????

Do you really believe they would say anything else? If they were considering axing him - what would an organization say? If they wanted him, they would have extended the contract. In business, if you know the decision, you don't wait on it - you act. You don't take the risk of waiting - ever. Unless you have doubts....

Nice twist, higher offensive output? If you mean they scored more than dallas in the finals, of course they did, that's why they have rings. If you play good defense, it is possible to score more than the opposition. How is this proving JVG to be an outdated coach? Newsflash, Miami isn't part of this NBA new wave of basketball, its not much different from our plan and San Antonio's. Again, Phoenix and Dallas are the only teams successful playing how you suggest. So again I ask, what coaches do you recommend?

Based on your post, POP is outdated too hun?

The Mavs have for the past 4 or 5 yrs been in the top 5 in points per game
Outside of like 02-03 when they were 12th, the spurs have been no higher than maybe 18th. Yet they have 2 rings.

    JVG vs Jerry Sloan

If JVG is a Good Coach . . . we blow these clowns out
Is JVG is an average coach . . .we go to 7 before eliminating

If Sloan as great as everyone says .. they extend us to 7
If he is mediocre and average they lose in 5

    Rocket River
I don't see us losing to the Spazz
