You are defintely entitled to your opinion, and many of us are probably wasting our time with pure speculative trivia, but the fact is that Rockets management is damn sure thinking about the summer of 2010 right now. While the players and coaches are focusing on the next game or two, the front office needs to make both short- and long-term plans for the franchise. Many of the ideas that are being thrown around here might be germane to what management is planning today.

    Just my opinion, though. ;)

In 2010 we'll sign Rudy Gay - he'll be determined to play for a winning team by then.

    Interesting prospects in 2010:

LeBron/Wade: probably not leaving their respective teams.

Bosh/Amare will turn out to be the most sought after free agents. One of them is likely to go to the Big Apple.

Dirk: one that I think we should definitely pursue. Top of the list. Dirk is the perfect 4 to bond with Yao.

Joe Johnson: Will command close to the max.

Mike Miller: I would definitely go after him. Could be had for cheap.

Nash: don't know how much he's going to have left then, but one that I would keep an eye out for.

Manu: don't even think about it. Will stay in SA.

Ray Allen: likely not going anywhere. Last contract.

Our entire 2010 situation depends on the Ron Artest decision that we will make this off season. T-Mac is unlikely to stay, even if he does, will have to take a massive pay cut.

    Some interesting names in 2009:

    Bibby: discuss in other thread.

Hedo Turkoglu: hmm... Does Orlando have the money to keep him? If not, who does?

Rasho Nesterovic: I see Yao's back up. A good one.

Jason Kidd: Who needs a (desperate) upgrade at the point?

Ben Gordon: Who has the money to sign him now?

On other thought, Yao/Dirk/Artest/Mike Miller/Nash would be freakin' SWEET. Old line up though. Hmmm...

    Yao - 18 mil?
    Dirk - 18 mil?
    Artest - 9 mil?
    Miller - 7 mil?
    Nash - 6 mil?

That adds up to 58 million. Easily the most costly in the league. Ahh oh well.
