Simply stating- and I want to go out on a limb here..

We would not have held on to Scola or kept him for too long, after acquiring him from San Antonio, if it weren't for Yao Ming at center.

That being said.. I still love Scola's tenacity. And is the top hustler on this team. No homo ;)

I'd like to think we have other problems than our PF. Like you said with a decent pg, I'd rather start there. Or maybe not playing a 6'6 center in Chuck Hayes, Or maybe having a SG that can play defense. However..

Scola and Martin have been our ONLY two constants.

It probably won't last but right now Scola is a 20/10 guy who isn't on a max level contract. His deal is somewhere between the MLE and 2nd/3rd tier players.

By the time we got Kevin Willis he was 38 yrs old...That wasnt exactly my point sir.....I saying we should trade a guy who scores 22 pts/12 rebs a game (positive news) for a guy who scores 17 pts/ 10 rebs 3 blks/ and who alters our defensive attitude..... Hence we probably beat GS, Wash, and maybe 2 others....Yall looking too much into Scola...obviously he's not generating wins...and if he's our goto player , you have to admit the record speaks for itself

What we need is more players that are capable on both ends of the floor.

Are you talking about Josh Smith?

He is 14-9-3 and we probably be the same. Look at Atlanta they can't beat any decent team with a full healthy Atlanta team.

And Josh Smith defense is overrated as Camby DPOY. A athletic guy who block shots and that's it.

So 17/10/3 isnt a possibility??? He gets those stats playing the 3...I dont think its too far-fetched to give us 17/10

What some posters are saying is we need more 2-way players with toughness and swagger/attitude.

You're the one that started a thread saying the Rockets haven't had a true power forward since Otis Thorpe, therefore you established 'chronological order'. You then went on to include Kevin Willis as a prototypical power forward the Rockets have lacked, all the while neglecting the fact that the Rockets had Kevin Willis after they had Otis Thorpe. Rather than type some worthless drivel and offensive stuff directed at me, simply admit that you forgot that Kevin Willis used to be on the Rockets team.

What we've been missing is defense in the backcourt.

The second best scoring team in the NBA shouldn't be 2-6.

We're not the only ones missing that type of PF. Most teams in the league are have and will be. That PF is a thing of the Past. Nowadays you're lucky if you can get a Center who can control the paint defensively.

Josh Smith is probably the best defensive PF in the game second being Gerald Wallace. Neither of those guys fit the mold of the PF of yesterday. The League has changed. Most Power forward have all the skill sets of a 3 except go the dribbles and some of them got that.

Offense is more valued in the NBA today and you can by being mediocre on defense. Think about all PF in the game which ones fit that mold. If they do they call them a Center. Duncan, Pau Gasol, Amare.
