First, let me say I am a relatively new driver. I didn't get my license until I was in my mid-twenties. And I'm still about in my mid-twenties.

That said, the longest drive solo was probably from around downtown Houston to Katy and back (isn't that pathetic?). Of course I've driven around Houston alone doing errands all day quite frequently and that probably does add up, as has been pointed out. And I've driven on roadtrips with JV (preferably when he is sleeping and can't tell me to slow down).

I just drove from St. Louis to Houston on Sunday. Left at 4am, got back around 5-ish. The drive was actually not bad at all... very evenly divided in terms of "legs" of the trip. (St. Louis to Memphis, Memphis to Texarkana, Texarkana to Houston).

Things I suggest: a whole lot of music, and a cell phone (with hands free kit) to talk to people when you're bored.

I thought it was more also, I really don't remember so I checked
    Mapquest.

Mapquest shows it to be 1,941 to be exact........( I got turned around in Dallas so I should add about 20 miles ) I checked
the route that Mapquest has and It's the same way I went.

I left early on the first day ( 8:00 I think ) and only slept in the
truck twice, ( only 3-4 hours each time ) arrived in the afternoon on the third day.

    p.s. I show Dallas to Rock Spings WY = 1,224 miles ???

Yep...that would jive with the whole 70 mph for about 18 hours thing I said.

As I indicated, it looks like Expedia is off by about a 1,000 miles--time to start using mapquest, I guess.

The year was 1983, in my first Cannonball Run I made it from New York City to LA in 24 hours 43 minutes and 12 seconds.

I get to Drive to Memphis all the time. BTW... 59N is the worst piece of crap, nonspectacular road in the world, followed by a trip through..... Arkansas!

(Please shoot the SWA rep who decided not to fly to Memphis!)

Houston to Denver, Denver to Houston (twice)
    Key Largo to Houston
    Boston to Austin (twice)
    Austin to LA
    LA to Houston

The Houston/Denver trips (~1000 miles, 16 hours) were all hot seats :s I learned my lesson on those trips; 12 hours is about all I can take now.

Houston, TX to Ithaca, NY (and back again) - 3 times. It's a 26 hour trip, and I routinely made it in 2 days flat. No uneccesary stops outside of food (20 minutes max per stop) and gas. What a b**** of a trip. Glad I don't have to make that one anymore. (Then again, I don't make any roadtrips anymore after giving my parents my car...)

We would have made it faster if it weren't for all those slow Camaros er...I mean Cameos.

During the Gumball Rally I posted my best cross country times...:D

Miami, Florida to just west of New Orleans. I would have made it all the way back to Houston if not for a blinding rainstorm that happened to be occurring at a little after 1am.

Mrs JB and I had gone on a cruise. We drove to Miami as well but we stopped in the FLA panhandle on the way to Miami.

Don't know that this really counts, but last summer, I was the driver from Nashville to Manchester, TN for the Bonnaroo festival.. Although, Manchester is only about 70mi (rough estimate) from Nashville, we spent 17 hours in traffic to get into the gates, and I was behind the wheel the whole time..

Yep. I used to stop at a certain Chili's off of 81 in Wilkes Barre every time I made the trip. (My "20 minute food stop" rule was no match for a Chili's burger...)

Chili's is worth breaking that rule:)

I made that trip, Houston to Scranton, and you're right, it was a "b**** of a trip."
