Surprise, surprise... officials. I had lurked for over six months, but didn't really want to post. But, the Rockets had a long winning streak during that terrible 2000 season, and it ended with a loss to Minnesota. It really sucked since we got shafted by a few calls, and I posted on the board to vent my frustrations.
i lurked since around november, finally registered in february and posted about a bet i made on the bucks game. you know, the one where we lost by 40.
My first post was something about Mario Elie and how he shouldnt've left us...etc..etc....and I proceeded to get flamed by old poster Mario17 or something...don't know where that guy's at now.......but I had people defend me and here I am today, still goin strong. BTW, when did this Manny name change to Comic Book Guy happen???
Wow, I've been on the board for two years now! Can you believe it? I registered on July 31st, 2000. My very first post was a question about league pass broadcasters. I wanted to know if League Pass had their own neutral announcers, or if they just tapped into local broadcasters. Pretty boring first post... My next 3000 or so were basically my reactions after Rockets losses. There was a lot of Rudy/Cuttino bashing.
Which season are you talking about? The 2000-2001 season ended with a blowout win over Minnesota, it was Hakeem's last game 114-87. I was there. The 1999-2000 ended with a loss to Vancouver... 92-96
I think he's referring to the end of the winning streak...not the end of the season... but I could be wrong...
I don't remember my first post at all. But, I wasn't really in until I had a long protracted argument with BrianKagy and others about whether it would be better for Olajuwon to gracefully retire or to keep playing until he was summarily cut. I supported the latter.
I just looked mine up and was quite amused. I defended the Collier pick because I read on nbatalk.com that he would be part of a package for Croshere. I was so sure they were telling the truth.
Jerome Moiso, I thought he would be something, or trading up the the draft for the No. 3 pick, one of those two. My first thread I started was about Game 4 of the NBA Finals, when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers in overtime to go up 3-1 in the series. That thread devolved into an argument on the officiating.
Lurked for about 6 months, until one day I read a post from a guy called Holden. He proceeds to inform us that he purchased an elephant ! I just had to chime in on that one. Been addicted ever since.
It was in the DRob thread. I posted why we shouldn't persue him. Man, it took me 4 hours to get that meesage on my Dreamcast(which at the time didn't support Javascript)
My first post was about how I thought Stromile Swift and Kenyon Martin would be the only two good players of that draft class. At least KMart is good. Sadly, my third post was about how, if given the choice between Shandon Anderson and Mobley, I'd rather keep Anderson for his defense. I don't know why I was such an idiot Hopefully in two years I won't be regretting my current position that Mo Taylor will be as integral to this team this year as Kenny will be.
Mine (under the name "shanna") was in response to an RM95 post about hot girls of some sort. It was an attempt to scare him into thinking that his (now ex-)girlfriend was reading the BBS and pissed at him.
Here is my first post, February 16, 2000: about 10 hours later, Joe Joe gave me a response: Thanks Joe Joe
my first post was noticing that the whole Rockets team wore black shoes against the Sixers at home (2000-2001). And I commented on how weird those black shoes looked on Hakeem Olajuwon, since he had never worn black shoes before.
I don't remember exactly....I think my first post involved explaining some portion of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement to someone.
