Super Mario (original), Zelda, Metroid, Punchout, Double Dribble, Pro Wrestling. Wish I still had a Nintendo - great stuff, and still a GAME, not this real life crap they pedal you nowadays.
1. Tecmo Super Bowl is pretty far ahead of everything else. in fact, i still have my nintendo, it's right beside me here in my apartment, and tecmo super bowl is in the nintendo right now and i have a season with SF going. 2. Mike Tyson's Punchout - awesome game. played it off and on b/c i never owned it until recently. just beat tyson over winter break and took a victory lap around the house i was so excited. 3. Super Mario Bros 3 - such a smooth, shiny look to it. unlike mario 1, you can't just fly through it on 1 life. you actually get challenged. 4. Super Contra - i beat the main guy on level 4 (the spaceship that shoots skulls and little red spiky balls at you) by myself with only the weeny gun. it was pretty impressive. 5. Super Mario Bros 1/Duck Hunt/Power Pad 3 in 1 game - the original nintendo game i owned and got on Christmas day 1988. the nostalgia alone puts it here. pretty fun to get SMB1 out evey once in a while and fly through it.
Super Mario 2 -- I like 1 better now, but back in the day, 2 was my fave Super Mario 1 Super Mario 3 RC Pro AM Top Gun 1 and 2 Mike Tyson's Punch Out Excitebike Galaga Spy Hunter All the TMNT Games BattleToads There are a ton I'm leaving out, I'm sure.
Excitebike TMNT 2 TMNT 3 SMB 1-3 Duck Tales Tecmo Super Bowl Super Bases Loaded 3 Zelda 2 : The adventures of Link (It was hard)
Anyone else have Intelevision? That was my first system cause my parents couldn't afford Nintendo so they bought it from my neighbors who were moving...
i'm not saying this for the sake of saying it, but i was going to list those three games along with a few others. i'm probably one of the select few who like mario 2 over 3. another good game. wasn't the arcade one with the bees chasing you and stuff, but still a fun game. anyway, a few are... mario 2 (everyone i knew used the princess) metroid ring king mtpo ghost and goblins lifeforce gradius castlevania also for whoever mentioned the up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a, select start... well, that was also the code to get all the powerups from the start in gradius and lifeforce.
Zelda Mike Tyson's Punchout Adventure Island Mega Man 3 (best music of all the old NES games IMO) Super Tecmo Bowl Metroid edit: There was this old game called "Anticipation". It was cool. It would start drawing a picture an you had to buzz in before the other player and spell out what it was drawing. Pretty basic, but fun. Jeopardy for NES was fun too.
2600- Pitfall Double Dragon Frogger Krull Night Driver Space Invaders Zaxxon Pole Position Q*bert Defender Joust Elevator Action Dig Dug Donkey Kong Nintendo- Paperboy 1943 Ten Yard Fight Excite Bike Galaga Tecmo Skate or Die Super Mario Tetris Kung Fu Duck Hunt Little Nemo Dream Master Contra Castlevania Final Fantasy Ninja Gaiden I was a spoiled child. And yes, I've been laid.
I liked 2 better as well. I used different people for different levels -- I had a whole system as to who was better when. Princess was my "go to guy" on the ice levels. I probably used Luigi most, but I liked Toad the best.
I have heard that Mario 2 was actually a game about a persian prince (hence, the flying carpet and the deserts in one the the worlds). The actual Mario 2 game (that looked much like the original Mario) was deemed too difficult by the testers so they took the game about the prince and reprogrammed with Mario's image in it. I've heard that you can find the real Mario 2 in Japan, but I don't know for sure. Anyone else heard this? ...and yes, I have been laid...
I'd never heard that story. Did some googling, and eventually I found out the story: http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk/smb2_madness.shtml It was originally called "Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic". The "harder" Super Mario 2 was later released as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels in Mario All-Stars for the SNES. Having played through "The Lost Levels", I can definitely vouch for it being difficult. Personally, I liked the second one the best anyways, so I'm glad that things worked out as they did.
