I think the 1988 draft is definitely one of the worst......several guys had decent careers, but very few stars.

1 LAC Danny Manning Kansas - Had a few decent years, mostly injury plagued.
2 Ind Rik Smits Marist - Good career, solid player.
3 Phil Charles Smith Pittsburgh - Lackluster career. Did ok with NY
    4 NJ Chris Morris Auburn
5 GS Mitch Richmond Kansas State - Exception. Great player.
6 LAC Hersey Hawkins Bradley - Solid shooter. Long career.
    7 Phoe Tim Perry Temple
8 Char Rex Chapman Kentucky - On and off...but solid.
9 Mia Rony Seikaly Syracuse - Decent center.
10 SA Willie Anderson Georgia - Could have been great, what happened?
    11 Chi Will Perdue Vanderbilt
12 Wash Harvey Grant Oklahoma - Not as good as his bro.
13 Mil Jeff Grayer Iowa State
14 Phoe Dan Majerle Central Michigan - Had some stellar years in Pho.
    15 Sea Gary Grant Michigan
16 Hous Derrick Chievous Missouri - Bahhahahhahaa....
    17 Utah Eric Leckner Wyoming
18 Sac Rick Berry San Jose State
19 NY Rod Strickland DePaul - Decent career.
    20 Mia Kevin Edwards DePaul
21 Port Mark Bryant Seton Hall - Long career.
22 Clev Randolph Keys Southern Mississippi
    23 Den Jerome Lane Pittsburgh
24 Bos Brian Shaw UC Santa Barbara - Decent career.
25 LAL David Rivers Notre Dame

    Second Round
    1 Port Rolando Ferreira Houston
2 SA Shelton Jones St. John's
    3 Phoe Andrew Lang Arkansas
4 Sac Vinny Del Negro North Carolina State - Puh-lease.
    5 Det Fennis Dembo Wyoming
    6 Phil Everette Stephens Purdue
7 NJ Charles Shackleford North Carolina State
8 Mia Grant Long Eastern Michigan
9 Char Tom Tolbert Arizona - Good commentator.
10 Mia Sylvester Gray Memphis State
11 Wash Ledell Eackles New Orleans
    12 NY Greg Butler Stanford
    13 Phoe Dean Garrett Indiana
14 Mil Tito Horford Miami (FL)
    15 Mia Orlando Graham Auburn
    16 GS Keith Smart Indiana
    17 Utah Jeff Moe Iowa
    18 Den Todd Mitchell Purdue
    19 Atl Anthony Taylor Oregon
20 LAC Tom Garrick Rhode Island
21 Dall Morlon Wiley Long Beach State
22 Den Vernon Maxwell Florida - We know this guy.
    23 Det Micheal Williams Baylor
24 Dall Jose Vargas Louisiana State
25 Phoe Steve Kerr Arizona - One dimensional, but solid, long career.

Ouch!!! It seems to me you think you should be running things.

1st off: Battier can help now. Gay and Swift are just potential.
2nd off: Brooks would have been taken in the 1st round by someone else.
3rd off: Vince isn't Kubiacs style of QB and Bush isn't his type of runner.

Face it, when you become a fan of a team your at their mercy. Tomorrow the Rockets could trade Yao for chopped liver. The Texans could trade Andre Johnson for Antoine Peek. And the Astros could trade Hunter Pence for Willy Tavares.

You know what, you'd have to take IT. Lucky for you and the rest of the armchair GM's that the Rockets, Astros, and Texans have GM's that seem to try to improve the teams. Les has even gone over the salary cap when necessary. As a Houston Fan, you might be getting inferior results, but the teams are spending money to try to get you quality product ;)

But all three moves you mentioned above seem totaly logical to me. Even the Vince, Bush, and Williams epic debate.

Kenyon Martin, Jamal Magloire, and Michael Redd have all been all-stars.

83 draft did not turn out any longterm stars. Ralph Sampson was good for a couple of years, but not much else from that draft.

No long term stars? How about Clyde Drexler at #14?

There were also several other really good players in that draft: Byron Scott, Dale Ellis, Jeff Malone, Derek Harper and Doc Rivers.
