    I thought it was 5 passes. ;)

And its quite noticeable that these Rockets dont pass up an open look. I wonder what their 24 second violations are in comparison to last year. They seem down, but then again they are having so many more possessions per game that it might just be an illusion.

I'm going to get scorched for this, but the 2003-04 Utah Jazz after Stockton retired and Malone moved to the Lakers, but before the Deron Williams/Boozer era. They finished with a 42-40 record and barely missed the playoffs. Players in that team were Kirilenko, Raja Bell, Matt Harpring, and Carlos Arroyo.

Hate this notion all you want, but vintage Jerry Sloan Jazz basketball is what the Rockets have been emulating thus far this season. Without the dirty plays but yes there are some flopping.

I shudder to think that we would consider ourselves "emulating" something so foul and revolting. Maybe emulating was just the wrong word choice... I would say "vintage Jerry Sloan basketball is what the Rockets accidentally and entirely coincidentally somewhat almost resemble in one or two ways this season".

so basically you're saying I'm right in so many words. gotcha. ;)

And what do you think others have been saying before the season what our style of basketball would be this season? Some would say foul and revolting.

Reminds of me when Dream went down and Larry Smith was our center.
The supporting cast ending up showing their skills and I think Don Chaney won coach of the year.

Kenny Smith and OT were playing sensational ball like Brooks and Landry.
Larry Smith = Chuck Hayes :p

first of all to say any TEAM minus a player is a cop out.

secondly, this team will not end the season playing .500 ball for the season, so to compare them to a team that ended that way is ... well, is lousy.

and finally, its got to be the pistons when they won it all, because the league had to celebrate them as a TEAM. they had no individual to celebrate. although in hindsight they could of celebrated chauncy.

Exactly. Don Chaney did win coach of the year that year, and I think the Rockets had a huge win streak while Hakeem was down. I was going to say the same thing.

One of the early 2000's Sacramento teams maybe?

    Same coach, too.

May have something to do with it.

    Totally the Sacramento Kings...it's uncanny.

We lost T-mac and Yao, they lost their big man is Webber.

With T-mac back, we'll look more like the Kings as T-mac will be asked to play a bit more like....Peja.

    But it's really uncanny"

    Vlade Divacs.....Luis Scola.
    Scott Pollard.....Chuck Hayes
    Doug Christie....Shane Battier
    Webber......a bit like Carl Landry
Peja..... like T-mac in a lot of ways
    Bibby - Brooks
    Bobby Jackson - Kyle Lowery

I mean, it's uncanny to me.

You are absolutely correct that mere role players should not win as many games as these Rockets have. This is a team made with a bunch of pitbulls who abhor losing.

I don't how we get there without losing a key player, but Wade plus a serviceable center could make this team a serious championship contender.

In the offseason, Morey's challenge is to sell the above statement to all stars/superstars and make them want to come here.

ps. I don't know what to think of Yao's future with the Rockets.
