It seems like every year, Rockets fans are disappointed with the draft, especially in the first time. The chatroom exploded with negativity after the Morris pick, and it made me think about how this seems to happen pretty much every year.

For me, starting with today and going back to the Sam Cassell pick in '93, I can honestly say that the only 1st round picks I was happy with on draft day were Yao Ming and Eddie Griffin.

I would have been happy with Richard Jefferson and Rudy Gay, but obviously both were traded away quickly. I was really angry about the Rashard Lewis debacle, but pleasantly surprised with Aaron Brooks.

So - no revisionist history - what was the last first round pick by the Rockets you were happy with when it happened?

From what I'm hearing about Morris, and considering it was the 14th pick, I'm not unhappy with this years pick, and I wasn't unhappy with Patterson last year. It is a bit of a let down when we've all been talking about trades and moving up in the draft all day, but very few teams actually do it.

    Never.

Which is why I tend to ignore the negativity.

Morris will be a good NBA player. Most fans were wanting a big splash, so they set themselves up to be disappointed.

the night is far from over still.

I've said multiple times tonight that I like the Morris pick. I understand that a lot of people don't like it. What are some reasons why you don't like it? Not trying to criticize your opinions at all. Just want your opinions to see if I'm overlooking something

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Chase was an early 2nd rounder...

Unhappy about 2 things on Morris - that we failed to move up, and that we passed on Leonard. I'll be watching Leonard for the next decade to grade this draft by.

I've been unhappy for the last couple of trades because Morey always says he's going to be aggressive, and then doesn't deliver. I was optimistic about the Brooks draft.

I was extremely happy with Patterson last year because he seemed like a perfect replacement for Carl Landry, and he's turned out to be a very solid pick so far.

I'm not happy with Morris, though. Especially considering Leonard was on the board there. If Morey would have taken Leonard and then traded Miller for Flynn, then I'd be a pretty happy dude right now.

With that being said, if Morey has proven himself at anything so far, it's been that he's pretty damn good on draft day, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt at this point.
