I started out with premium but lately I've been filling up with plus. Havent really notice the difference in performance with my car.
Not true. Read my earlier post. Also, a higher octane gasoline giving more power is false. There is no more heat energy created in a higher octane. The only benefit of a higher octane, for power, is if the engine is designed to take advantage of it. Putting higher octane in an engine that requires only minimum, is wasting money.
The one that has 10% Ethanol. I'm in Omaha; and outside of the ciy limits, there really ain't nothin' up here for five states but agriculture, most notably corn. Also, the pipeline I work for transports a big chunk of the natural gas for the ethanol plants up here. Mix that in with the perfectly reasonable possibility of momentarily $100 oil again, and I just figure I should support it.
lol@ the person who thinks you can water down gas. My family owns several gas stations (typically unbranded cornerstore types) and i know for a fact that even a few gallons of water in a 15000 gallon gasoline tank can cause major issues. Oh and my unbranded gas stations use the same gas as the branded ones but it differs on who we get it from. one day the shipment might be from conoco the other day exxon. It makes no difference really.
I'm curious as to what the negative to 10% Ethanol is. There is a gas station near my mom's house that doesn't use Ethanol, and I've wanted to go test it out to see if my car runs better, but unfortunately I didn't need gas last time I was there, and driving 1,000 miles just to get some gas seems a bit extreme. I need to find a station closer to myself. If it is one thing I've learned, its that Kerosene is not the best fuel to run a 2007 Civic Hybrid on. I thought I ****ed up my car bad, but at least in ran. I didn't realize I was putting Kerosene in until the next day.
So are you saying your gas contains the same detergents say an Exxon puts in theirs if you get it from Exxon? I've always heard that it doesn't.
You get a bit less mileage out of E10. That's the main negative that's readily visible. There are other "more political negatives" you can debate one way or another that I'll leave out.
Ethanol is more corrosive, so you can't run a high percentage unless the fuel system is designed for it. Ethanol provides less power than gasoline, so you'd have to burn more of it to get the same power output, meaning that fuel economy isn't as good. We only get 10% ethanol in our normal gasoline, so the effects are minimal. Do not put E85 in a non-E85 vehicle!
