I'd just be wary of using regular all the time in your TSX. True, you can use it, but it will show effects of lower performance and lesser gas mileage. Both Manual and Car specify requirements 91+ or premium gas. Just giving you a heads up from a fellow TSX owner.
Mostly middle grade sometimes the low grade gas. Have not had any problems in my two Camry (97 and 06) ever.
In about 22-23 years of driving, I've put something other than Exxon gas in my car maybe 3-4 times. I have no idea why... I must have Exxon... it's dumb. lol. Although on road trips around Texas and Arkansas in the last year, I've pumped Shell.
I was using premium until the gas prices went up through the roof. Is there evidence that using regular or plus will mess my TSX up? I've heard that all types of gas are just same.
Most modern engines will adjust if you put regular insead of premium when premium is required, but at a cost... you lose power and mileage. What the engines adjust for is the knocking/pinging. You may save money on the gas, but you're probably losing money on the mileage and power. When people say "all gasolines are the same", they're talking about when you buy from Exxon or Shell or whatever brand, not the octane rating (premium vs. regular), which is not exactly true, either, btw. I wouldn't put anything less than whatever your manual recommends for any extended period. Take it from your big brother TL driver.
Yeah, I LOVE my TSX. I'm gonna drive it to death. I just wanted to save money. I think I've been putting in regular and plus for a year. I guess I'll slowly go back to Premium. Let's hope it won't be $3 per gallon again!!!
Always Chevron - always supreme. I was using Exxon Supreme last year -but i noticed less knocks in my engine when i got the RPM up high with Chevron supreme
I drive a Dodge Charger. The owners manual recommends 89 octane so that is what I use. I did try 87 initially and after going to 89 I could tell a difference...smoother acceleration, better gas mileage.
