Yeah, basically, @rocketsjudoka is exactly like ilhan, marrying her brother illegally for citizenship then trying to make it the norm. Disgusting practice that hurts society as a whole and is spit in face of legal immigrants. I would personally deport @rocketsjudoka to stop the inflow of illegals who see him as inspiration and end up ruining lives of their family due to their irresponsible and naive decisions.

 

clueless like you make this country a worse place. There are republicans and democrats who the same can be said about. You'd rather argue around facts and common sense to hurt everyone than just accept some things have to change, can easily be changed, and help alot of people in the process. I would grant citizenship to DREAMERS and a pathway for illegals who show long term merit but I would shutdown all birthright citizenship. Stop giving people an invenctive to suffer, risk lives of their family, be exploited etc. etc.

Violating a citizen’s rights by deporting them is a far more serious violation of the law than being in the country without proper documentation.

Birthright citizenship isn't unfettered unregulated immigration because people need to get here to in order to give birth. You can still keep birthright citizenship while strengthening immigration laws. Heck you could build a wall and still keep birthright citizenship.

And if you're talking about emotion, yes I am emotional because I am a citizen because of birthright along with several members of my family. None of us came here to suckle off of the US teat and there is very little evidence that immigrants are coming here just to take benefits. My family and those of most immigrants came here to work.

Because Houston is an international city and the Rockets have an international appeal many Clutchfans here are immigrants or the children of immigrants. Harris County is the most diverse county in the US because of immigration. The longterm success of Houston is going to be due to immigrants. Bithright citizenship will guarantee that the children of those people will be committed to building this country. Speaking personally I've had the opportunity to become a citizen of another country but I am fully an American and still consider myself a Texan and Houstonian because that is where I was born and where I grew up.

Just to add one more thing. This thread does show one reason why Trump continues to have so much support. Nativism crosses partisan lines..
