All of these different trade discussions got me thinking which would be the best choice for the long term? Then that led me to think about some of the bad trades this organization has made. Example: Charles Barkley for Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, Chucky Brown, and Mark Bryant. So my question to you is... What trade in our Rockets history would you undo, why, and how would it have affected the organization as a whole?
I wouldn't have traded for MerGady. And wouldn't have signed Quitten. Coincidentally both are number 1 & 2 in the most hated Rockets member of all time. ALL TIMES!
besides the one for Barkley, i guess the 3 picks for Griffin yeah ... btw, what do we got in exchange for Batum when we picked him for portland ?
Say what you want but Tmac left us a lot of great memories. Him over bradley, 13 points in 30 seconds, 22 game winning streak. I still believe if the Dallas series wasn't rigged, or if Yao hadn't gotten hurt one of those years we'd have won another title with him.
The trades where we moved Elvin Hayes and later Moses Malone. The Griffin deal and Battier deals had little impact on the franchise long term.
How do you know that? We could have traded those picks for someone better, or we could have actually drafted good players. I'm not going to disagree about the Moses / Hayes trades...but I think they definitely did. We literally got NOTHING for 3 1st rounders, 2 of which were lottery picks I believe. And saying Battier for Gay didn't impact this franchise long term...um Rudy Gay could be playing for us right now and the past 4-5 years. I'd say that's a pretty big long term impact.
Well taking into account that both players were constantly hit with injuries, I would much rather watch Steve and Cat and possibly another top player via a trade. Even for just another 2 years. Though our former #1 did give us some good memories during the season and playoffs, the ending of his story in Houston wasn't worth it.
any GM would have traded Francis/Mobley for Tracy McGrady. Pairing Tmac with Yao Ming was the best decision to make, it gave us a chance to go for it all and start a dynasty. It did not pan out how we wanted because of injuries, but at that time..it was the RIGHT move for the management to make.
It definitely was. But since I know what happens... in retrospect, I think watching Steve and Cat for an additional 2-3 years would be fun. The heartbreak of Yao+MerGady was too much.
That trade also saved us from a few of their contracts. We'd probably STILL have Kelvin Cato playing for us.
A lot of people dont realize this, but i believe we could have gotten a lot more from our pippen trade to portland. I mean walt williams and carlos rodgers dude! Oh and you cant forget cato. Just think we could have gotten more from pippen's request.
You're out of your damn mind. We traded absolute scrubs for Tmac in his prime. And he had an injury prone Yao along with mike james, ryan bowen, sura, jon berry, and other scrubs to work with. Tmac had this city on fire when he came.
