I don't think even the most die hard Jalen fans including me would be against this. It's a no brainer if Luka becomes available and the Mavs accept a trade package with Green, another young player and picks. And that's coming from a guy who doesn't enjoy watching Luka play basketball and thinks Green is a lot more entertaining to watch. Luka just instantly drastically raises the floor and ceiling of the team at the same time.

I would trade any two of Green/Smith/Sengun/#4, plus next year's Brooklyn pick, plus any other guy from our roster for Luka. Only reason I don't just straight up say "whatever it takes at any cost" is because you need to have something left to build with so he doesn't demand a trade.

Not happening right now though. Luka won't demand a trade until at least next offseason IMO. Good reason to preserve trade assets though instead of frittering them away to build around a potential Harden comeback--I'm not optimistic about Cuban's ability to build an actual contender given the situation he's put them in, so a Luka trade demand may be coming sooner or later.

Yup. There are multiple MVP level players in the next couple of seasons that might request trades like Giannis, Embid or Luka. You hold out for those type of players to trade guys like Green, Jabari etc in trade packages. Not freaking Jaylen Brown or Siakam.

You have a good sense of today's NBA.
I'm going to put you on follow.

We have a lot of internet GM's here, most don't understand R Stone
is on the hot seat. Stone doesn't really have a "5-year plan" per se.

As much as I would like the Rockets to draft Whitmore/Jarace/Hendricks
Stone wants/needs players that can contribute now. Good chance pick #4
    and pick #20 get dealt.

BPA probably does mean much this year

Absolutely man. Many thanks n here only care about protecting their favorite players, not being real about what’s going on. It’s obvious how this team value certain players, they make clear to words and action

What a lot of people don't realize on this wheel of turning heads is you could take every guy on this roster and replace them with an entirely new cast of young, talented players and several of those nee guys would turn into players people argue like hell about to keep around and never trade while forgetting about the last guy you would never trade.

And y get hot and bothered and question your sexuality over another new player you'll hate.

That is saying nothing because 20 other teams would be after Luka as well.

What makes Green so special here, if you go out, he is still a good prospect but he is never viewed the same way elsewhere.

There is a gravitational pull from that heliocentric approach that most fans could not resist being pulled in.

20 other teams don't have the cap space, draft capital and young assets to trade for Luka.

The teams that have a chance are teams with young potential superstars like Indiana or team like us with a plethora of young mid to high ceiling players on rookie contracts, cap space and draft capital. Remember if a player like Luka demands being traded, the Mavs lose so much leverage. Teams in that situation never get equal value in return. Look at the Harden trade as an example.

Hence why I'd hold trading any of the top 4 young guys on the team until next season where there is a possiblity of disgruntled superstars like Embid, Giannis or Luka if their teams are still failing or falling short. Also this allows us to have a decent understanding of what we are giving up with guys like Green and Sengun by giving them a third year under a competent coaching staff so we feel safe we didn't accidentally trade away a future superstar.

They trade their dross, their fringe All Star players, it is not science exactly.....

KD showed exactly how to be traded from one spot in Brooklyn and ends up in Phoenix or Lakers/Clippers next....who knows.

    And sign somewhere else entirely.

Nothing is stagnant, Stone is uber cautious so that he does not make a mistake, we all know that.

KD is in his 30s man. Luka is going to demand a haul even if the Mavs won't have as much leverage.

Someone like Utah will swoop in with their 100s of picks and we’ll see where that goes.

    They like pale faced players.

Sorry, but Stone has not exactly proven that he is Jerry Kraus and can build a championship team.....so how the faq can he convince Luka to stay here permanently?

In fact, Tilman is much worse than Cuban, Cuban partied with many players and can actually convince them that he actually cares......

Picks only probably wouldn't do it. Mavs probably would want some actuall young players that show high ceiling potential with guys like Green and Sengun.

That's my point. Chances are Jalen Green would be a part of one of the better trade packages when a true superstar comes available. And, we'd probably do the deal.

So Jalen's not untouchable. Untouchable means we don't want to trade you unless YOU ask to leave, like Luka/Giannis/etc.

That's what true sports fandom is. I sobered up years ago thanks to my wife when she helped me realize I was on a never ending roller coaster . . . Kinda like a nightmare.

I would try and hold on to everyone and everything. I believe we have not seen much of the true potential in anyone. A system that plays through Sengun and Garuba. (YES Garuba is the missing player in our system. Corner 3 defenseman that can cover up Sengun, but can pass the ball too. Smith is a load at the other forward and he can definitely defend it and cover of the rim, too. Green and Porter should read react, cut or pop. Both can make a pass to an easier shot.

We are there, please don’t tear it apart before we use it. Keep the 4th pick and get U of H Walker.
