There were a lot of Buckeye fans on Rivals.com "Insidetexas.com" message board that thanked UT fans for their time in Austin, some even apologized for the way their fans treated us the season before. There was a huge thread on a Buckeye fanboard that was about everyone's trip to Austin, every single poster (and I mean every single poster) had nothing but great things to say about their trip.

I didn't mean for this to be a UT vs. Ohio St. thread, but Ohio St. has been notorious for their fans but I've never experienced or seen it for myself, just thought this was an interesting video.

But to say that this happens to every other school just tells me that you've never been to a college football game. I went to every UT home game, the Red River Rivalry, and to Lubbock for the Tech game, I've never seen anything close to what was shown in the video.

Good to hear that Ohio St. officials are trying to do something about it.

tOSU showed they were clearly the better team today, Michigan really hurt itself by not capitalizing on the 3 TOs in the 2nd half. The roughing the passer call on 3rd and 15 was the killer.

Don't act like there isn't people like that everywhere. My friend had beer bottles thrown at him and his family at the a&M ut game in austin a few years back.

Do A&M fans trash their city, overturn trash cans, set couches and trash cans on fire after every big win?

I never said there aren't people like that everywhere, but tOSU has been notoriously known for their fans. It's so bad that even the VP hired a camera crew to capture the stuff that happens in Columbus.

Actually, I've been out and about the campus area, and I have yet to see anything like you're saying. Well, there were a lot of beer cans

Why is it "the" ohio state university?

That whole deal is really dumb.

Too bad Colt got hurt against KSU. Would have enjoyed seing a Colt lead UT team dismantle OSU in the NC game. With a season under his belt, he would have picked that defense apart.

ROFL. Right... UT would've dismantled tOSU in the NC game...

The reason behind the "The" is simple. There are many OSUs out there, but there is only one Ohio State. It's out of pride.

From start to finish - #1

    Heisman - Troy Smith

    We're going to Arizona!

The reasoning is flawed. When used in abreviated status, it reads "OSU". There is no "one" "OSU". Like you admitted, there are many "OSU"s. When not abreviated, it's Ohio State University. There is only one Ohio State University, so there is no need for the "the".

The "The" is apart of the of the name, like The University of Texas. It's just we have a bit more pride about it than other schools.

Holbrook praises team and fans after win over Michigan

COLUMBUS – Ohio State University President Karen A. Holbrook today congratulated the team for its victory over the University of Michigan on Saturday evening and thanked everyone who contributed to responsible celebrations and relatively trouble-free post-game activities.

"Once again our Number One football team showed great class in its thrilling victory over the Wolverines, and our fans proved they are, indeed, 'The Best Fans in the Land,'" Holbrook said.

Holbrook credited student leaders who launched the Ohio State Sportsmanship Council and the 'Best Fans in the Land' campaign at the start of this year's football season, along with many others who worked as a team to push for responsible fan behavior.

"I also want to thank our Student Affairs staff, Athletics Department personnel, the leadership of Coach Tressel, Team Captains and all players, our university's public safety force, and the numerous law enforcement officers from the state, county and city levels. In addition, thanks go to Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman and his team for working so closely with the university to deliver a seamless public safety effort," Holbrook said.

"Our university is very proud to have a Big Ten champion football team playing for another national title," Holbrook added. "It's great that our fans have matched the effort of our young men on the field."

In addition to the 105,708 fans who attended yesterday's game, university officials estimate that as many as 80,000 people came to the university area to enjoy the game-day festivities. Following the victory, as many as 17,000 fans rushed the field, with no major injuries reported.

While there were some incidents resulting in arrests that occurred near campus during the victory celebration, campus and city police were generally pleased with the post-game behavior.

"For the second consecutive Michigan game in Columbus, we have had safe celebrations," Holbrook said. "While we will continue to look for ways to make additional improvements, we have turned the corner on fan behavior."

Months of planning by university and city officials preceded this weekend's game. Successful tactics from past years were reinstituted, and a number of new initiatives were created such as increased temporary lighting off-campus, special efforts to curb large parties, incentives to keep students on campus and enhancements to the student-led sportsmanship campaign.

You're not getting it. It's stupid. The "the" in UT is a result of how the title is worded. Nobody calls Texas Tech "The Texas Tech". It's not about pride, it's about stupidity.

I am stupid because I am correct? FLAWED LOGIC at its best.

Up north, Buckeyes (and the Big Ten fans) refer to Ohio State as OSU; but down south and west, where there are other OSUs, we use tOSU to differentiate from other programs. Just because people like you get into a hissy fit over the name does not make it stupid.

Oh, and if you can, re-read the letter I posted from my university's president. She uses just Ohio State University. I, for all practical reasons use just Ohio State. If, for some particular reason, I feel like hyping my university, I use THE Ohio State University, but that is not often.

Be careful Azadre, its you against the world on this one, on this board. Trust me. If you say anything bad about UT, your are an idiot, your logic is flawed and from this point forward nobody will take you seriously. Be careful.

I doubt it, Azadre is objective and intelligent so he won't get bashed.

You're just an obsessed UT hater so thats why you annoy most people.
