Boniero, Now you've got a point. Cassell wants to get paid, but at his age it ain't for a three year deal. It wouldn't be hard, IMHO (but, who the hell am I?), to convince him to take a 2 yr. deal with a team option for a buyout in the 2nd (rules folks tell me where I'm on crack here). I would like to see Cassell as an assistant coach. I'm not the only one to say this, and I think he'd be a good candidate because he really knows the game. Plus, he's too fugly to be a broadcaster!!! -P1st, S2nd
Yeah judging from his history of complaining about money and extensioins I dont think Cassel will be giving us any "home town" discount or short term deals any time soon. Anyway back to the topic. Lets assume the rockets decide they need veteran help and not an unproven rookie and decide to trade the 8th pick. What is the value of the 8th pick? That is what can we reasonably expect to get for back for this? Can we acquire say a josh childress, Butler or Peitrus or is the value more along the lines of an Antonio Daniels (long moderate to big contract) and Ariza.
JVG never gets involved in the draft. I think we will go for a 2 or converted 2 player. Roy, Carney or Reddick are likely candidates. The fours in the draft are very raw for a pick. We need help now at the two. We can always pick a 4 in the 2nd round.
Please, would everyone stop with the JJ Redick talk for the 8th pick. That is borderline obscene. It's got to be Roy, Carney, or his teammate who suppossedly has more of an upside than both of them (and has been dubbed as Tracy McGrady lite), Shawne Williams. JJ would be a good pick............. in the 2nd round.
people wont stop because he was college player of the year. and the thing he does best is shoot lights out. and people can see the other things he is not good at but still think he would fit this team nicely. im not sure one way or the other. but i guess we will see what happens.
Did anyone else catch CD this morning on SR610? He mentioned that he just got back from Europe (scouting) and was talking about VSpan. said he played very well in a game, compared his style to Tony Parker (though no mention of whether he plays at TPs pace) but said he was used to lots of contact around the perimeter, thought it would translate well here with the breathe-on-you-fouls on the perimeter...anyhoo, he said they were going to be talking contracts soon and dont remember any mention of badiane, but im pretty sure this is absolutely nothing new to everyone here.
