Yao doesn't want to go anywhere, loyalty thing maybe. But if it's a bad offer he should walk. There are a lot of teams that could use the big fella, no need to mess around at this point in his career.

Agree with you. Very unlikely a team will win the champion with Yao signing the max.

I hate to classify people, but judging from responses in this thread, its easy to see who wants whats best for the rockets and who wants best for yao. I think when he comes back next yr and plays out the year, his value will be determined. He wont be a 20ppg guy again given brooks and landry's offensive developement and the added player. He probably wont play more than 30min a night either. I think he will be 16ppg 8 rebs per. Those are 10m player numbers and thats giving a little extra cream cause of loyalty. 3 yrs with team options for the 4th and 5th yrs.Say what u will, but all of the missed games are a major factor despite being a good guy.

Because Yao is extremely loyal. The team was very patient developing him, they went out of their way to give Yao the best in regards to basketball and life here in Houston. The team has stuck by him through injuries and continue to believe in him. Whether people agree or not, Yao will be a Rocket for a while folks.

I "ll say it right now. Yao Ming will opt out after this season!!!!!! Book it. Why? Cause if Yao doesn't opt out after this season then he will be under the new collective bargaining agreement which will mean a shorter contract for him. And with alot of teams with cap room, if they strike out of the elite free agents, they will most certainly turn their attention to him. You can bet his agent will tell him all these things. Even though Morey said Yao won't opt out, we never heard it from the horse's mouth.

There would be no dreaming or under the table deals if Alexander bought Yao's Chinese basketball team for say $40M, payable over three years, and then signed Yao to the minimum. At the end of Yao's career Yao could buy his team back at a bargain price. Everybody would be happy, and the Rockets would have plenty of cap space. Ta da!

then my condolences to the stupid team that will sign him to an extended contract and max money.

I don't understand where the discrepancy comes in? Its either the rockets make a dumb move...or they don't . It has nothing to do with anybody else. I care about the "Houston Rockets" and I am for anything that helps them in the long run, and even better, the present.

Any time you see people worrying about Yao being insulted and getting paid well more than winning games you can't state it enough.

You are weak if you have to label someone in order to make your argument more convincing. Are you capable of winning a debate without calling someone names?

I am not against to say goodbye to Yao, but if you think we should do it becuase Yao slows the progress of Carl, you are delutional. I like Carl, a lot. But he is no near Yao's value or talent. You might be able to get a glipse of what Carl can do if he is a starter, after yesterday's game. Miami by no means is a great defense team.

This team has moved forward without Yao and T-Mac... Just the fact...

At this point and time Carl and AB are carrying this team with undersized Center and they both need some rest.

Not only will Yao slow the progress of Carl he will also slow the progress of the team. The current Rockets team needs a Center like Mutombo. A defensive, mobile center that can get you rebounds and not concerned about being the main focus on Offense.

Now as far as Carl as the starter, if i'm not mistaken it was at SF and not at PF... There is a HUGE Difference...

Miami is not a great defensive team and they played against a very tired Rockets team... Now is that an excuse NO.. But keep in mind this team has surprised everyone and we should all be happy with what they are doing, but some individuals on this board don't understand the method of rebuilding and contending.

This is a Rebuiding team that has gone far and beyond of what was expected of them.

Called an experience player on a young team....

If you ever looked at the Geographic Channel, you will see that they bring in a Mature Bull Elephant to a herd to keep the Young ones in order... If not the Young ones get into trouble...
