I am all for resigning Yao. He's got too many tools and has way too much value to just let him walk.

    1) This team has shown they can win without YAO meaning they will look to push the ball first and try to get easy transition baskets. If nothing is there, they wait for Yao and go to a half-court setup with YAO playing the high-post more than the low-post.

    2) Teams will have to reconsider fronting Yao in the post if others can score. Years past, they have dared other players to score. We have a much more experienced team now and players like AB and LANDRY can put pressure on the defense. Defense would have to pick their poison... Let Yao score in the post? Let Landry make a poster out of you? Let AB knock down a 3?

    3) People forget how RA used Vlade Divac and Brad Miller in Sacramento. That was a quick-uptempo team with a center that could PASS and SHOOT the mid-range shot. ENTER YAO. Yao also has these abilities. RA could easily use Yao in a similar role. When needed, Yao can get in the post

It has been the low post game that has hurt Yao's feet the most. Playing in the paint takes a toll on players. Especially on guy like Yao, whose built as more of a finesse player rather than a player who just overpowers people.

A lineup with:Yao, Scola/Landry, Battier, Ariza, and Brooks is NOT a contender. But that's what this trade deadline is for and what this year's offseason is for. To bring in the pieces to make this team a contender.

    No contracts until the summer.

He has to prove that he has fully recovered. If he breaks his foot again, his career may be over like Bill Walton.

Why in the world do people think Yao will opt out to take a huge pay cut?

How much is a 20/10 injury prone 7'5 center worth in the market next year?

You may not build championship team around Yao, but he can be one of bedrocks for any contender. 3 year 40 mil total, I think many teams will want him.

He'll be resigned. This "letting him walk" talk is just juvenile gibberish.

There's no way 8-10 will keep yao, even if yao wants to stay, team yao will say no. So might as well lose him if he's made that offer...

I am so gonna lmao when the Rox will re-sign Yao for close to max amount if not max amount. Go cry me a river then. LOL.

Troll thread from T-Crap fan I say.

Landry can't get it done when teams start paying attention to him, and the Rox is lacking height big time. Unless these 2 things get fixed, no way Rox will depart with Yao unless Cavs or Heat suddenly suggest trading Yao for LBJ or Wade straight up... which not gonna happen.

    Keep dreaming, haters.

They are not haters. Some fans here just think Rockets is the center of the world and Rockets can get any good players at will, like an athletic, young, healthy big man with good skills at both offensive and defensive ends, but only takes a small pay.

Why would he opt out of his contract? He has 1 year at $17M, I don't think he would throw it away.

He's coming back. If only because unless someone drastically over pays him, he won't be able to easily pay for a specially designed house built for himself to stay in.

But more importantly, dude is loyal and probably recognizes he doesn't have 5-6 years left in him, unless he goes to Phoenix, which ain't happening. I see him retiring as a Rocket, although I have been wrong before.

    Fudge you Brett Farve!!!

If Yao is going to be one of the bedrocks of any contender, they will quickly discover that it's really quicksand. As their playoff hopes sink, when Yao gets injured again.

Have you been to a Rockets game this season?
Do you see how much Chinese Advertising Revenue the Rockets are generating and Yao hasnt even played a game this season?
Almost ever floor board advertisement is for a Chinese product or brand
Yao isnt going anywhere, Les is going to milk this for all its worth

now i do hope Yao walk and sign with other teams, since lots of people here think he doesnot deserve to be paid anything more than 8 mils.

I understand as a fan we want to see team to get better. Giving Yao's injury history, there are tons of risk. For pure basketball standpoint, Yao's value is not more than 12 or 13 mil player. However, NBA is business. There is only one team win Champion. For those who don't, having yao is like a insurence,
beside teams like Orl, LA, Cle, if yao is available, i am sure there will be huge amouts of buyers

We all can debate whether he will be worth it or not but it's all about supply and demand. Teams will overpay for Centers. Teams have always overpaid for centers. Look at how much Gortat or Anderson are getting paid for sitting on the bench?

A halfway decent center currently commands 10 mil min. You toss in the China Market plot and teams will pay.

As long as Yao is healthy of course. ;)
