I think eventually Posey and Nachbar will be the two main guy at the 3 assuming the Rocket resign Posey. I don't think Morris will be back after his rookie contract ran out next year. Hawkins is a good defensive player and he might stick as a 12th man. Rice had 1 year left after this year and he is gone. We have no # 1 pick this year( going to Memphis) and I doubt it if Les going to spend any more money picking up player with the mid level exception. So I think our team is basically set for the next few years unless injuries arise.

I could see us moving or dropping Taylor, Norris, Collier, Mattox, or Hawkins, and letting Rice retire ... but, I think we traded KT to keep Posey, not let him go, and I think Morris still has awhile to develop.

This could be the key to getting Dream back from Toronto.

I think it's time Hawkins goes. He can't score. Posey is probably a better scorer, and he's a much better transitional player. He's also slightly stronger than Hawkins.

I think we're going to waive Hawkins but, like Bullard, we're going to find him a team that needs him.

Then we give Posey more minutes backing up the 2 than 3, and let either T-Mo or Boki develop with those few minutes.

    Ming/Cato
    Griffin/MoT
    Rice/Posey/T-Mo/Boki
    Mobley/Posey
    Francis/Moochie

What do you guys think about getting Kenny Anderson from the Sonics? He's up for grabs, but we need to give up something valuable, because otherwise, they'd rather wait for his contract to expire this offseason.

I think he'd bring some nice experience off the bench for us, and his contract opens up new possiblities for backups next year.

It would be very interesting to find a way to get rid of Rice, but, he's playing well, is our best outside threat, our only player with true experience, our only veteran, and his contract is useful because we have a lot of extensions to negotiate soon.

On a side note, I hope the ROckets realize that, outside of Ming and Francis, we have to penny-pinch on every contract. This means, we tell Posey: "We're contenders. We're your favourite city. There's no income tax. Francis and Mobes are your friends. There's TV exposure here. You're familiar with our team, who's average age is your age. We're going to give you slightly less than everyone else, and it's your call."

We really have to make sure that we don't get into trouble with the luxury tax in keeping our core intact.

    Sane,

I wouldn't want to trade with a Western Conference team.

I do think we need another trade, somewhere, somehow, just to shore up the forward rotations. What that might be I don't know. But I believe Posey will be an important part of this team. "He plays defense" is all I need to know.

There is no logjam. Hawkins can be retained as a near-minimum player.

I would not trade Rice, when we get to the playoffs we need a vet who can hit the big threes and can some tough shots. I hated Rice last year, but this year he is a big part of our early success. I starting to like the old man. Kenny Anderson? No thanks, unless we could trade Mo Taylor and Moochie Norris for Kenny Anderson and Pedrag Drobnjak. It works salary wise, but I am not sure it improves the team much.

    No more trades!!!

Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Glen Rice are staying. They are "captains".

Eddie Griffin is going to get better.

The Rocks' owner is not as rich as Mark Cuban.

I got the joke, but didn't think it was funny, so I decided to answer the question.

Come on SJC. That was damn funny.

Actually, it was originally, just funny. But now its damn funny because people keep responding without realizing that the whole thing is a gag.

    Good job SS.

    SJC,

ironically, you just called my thread idea funny without knowing it.

What??? You all honestly believed Smeggy is funny on his own?? :D

    Codell,

I'm going to lose the bet pretty shortly in grand fashion, but this thread is within the rules, so....

    I see .....

So HP is running a puppet regime by pulling SS's strings?

SS how could you let someone manipulate you like that? ;)

    HP,

Just buy me a couple of beers at Smegs game and well call it even and you can start all the threads you want (maybe I will too!).

Im content to call this bet a wash. Maybe we should both start two simultaneous threads so we can both save face. :p

    first off.

I got front row seats tonight. And I'm talking about mini-skirt level seats.

    yeah

OK, there is a reason I'm posting this at near 4am with my wife satiated and all comfortable.

mini-skirt level is well worth it...

    $700 they call it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
