How can TMac best serve the Rockets when he gets healthy?

  1. Place him back into the starting rotation moving either Shane or Ron to the bench

  2. Keep Ron and Shane in the starting rotatioin and bring TMac off of the bench

Never mind come to think of it I might recall T-Mac coming off the bench , but I may be wrong on that. Honestly I'd love to have T-mac coming off the bench right now to shape up , but not overly play.

t-mac came off the bench last year when he first came back, not sure how many, may have only been a couple games.

as much as i like mac, if we can get a chris paul type and a chandler type of players for mac, we'd have to do it. rasheed and chauncey would have been nice, but it's too late now.

    Yao / Landry / Hayes
    Sheed / Scola
    Shane
    Ron / Barry / Head
    Billups / Alston / Brooks

the thing with him is that there is no healthy t-mac, it's always something every year with him. hopefully these 3 weeks will help him to get to where he needs to be. not very optimistic about this situation, i have a feeling that mac won't recover 100%, ever.

but a 80% mac is a lot better than most of the perimeter players, but still...

Keep Ron as bench leader. Ron and Tmac have some similar personalities.Dribbling

err, the offense is played pretty well when yao got injured last year. So why not trade yao as well?

Its a bit of a knee jerk reaction if you ask me. You cant just take a couple games into consideration, especially when the games that Tmac took time out, are games that rox should be blowing out no matter what.

1st - I am not calling for a TMac trade, my preference is to bring him off of the bench. But...trading him is certainly an option at some point.

2nd - I am a Rockets fan 1st. Trade Yao any day of the week if it improves our team. Hell, I would have traded Dream with out a second thought if it would have improved our team.

3rd - Yao is our only true center on the team. Because of that he is currently more valuable to this team than TMac. We have a lot of players that can play the 2 or 3 spots at a very high level. Unfrotunately we have no player outside of Yao that can play the center spot.

Artest can not play PF consistently he would get eaten alive...

People over rate his defense, he is great at stealing the ball, but he is NOT good at staying in front of his man ala Battier.

artest can stay in front of his man if he "doesn't" try to steal the ball. he's still the best on man defender in the game. he just gambles more often than he should.

but battier's D is kind of overrated for me. v. utah in both series, ak47 and harpring just "toys" with the guy.

but the reason battier is important is that he's like the leader of our defense in terms of yelling out assignments like a linebacker in football. but i feel his defense has let us down in the playoffs though. but we have artest to guard those guys if he can't this year.

Obviously Ron's defense is NOT overrated. He actually stays in front of his man and is so strong.

As for Shane he was hurt last year so it is an excuse.

Because they are bigger longer guys. Battier is better staying on perimeter oriented players rather than those who gonna post up.

I agree that Artest is still one of the best man defenders if he doesn't gamble too much.

ak47? seriously? i think battier is better at 1-on-1 guys (kobe, melo, bron) b/c he knows the team defense is there to help him.

with other guys, we don't give him that much help so he gets kind of exposed.

What you forget is that teams tighten up their defenses during the playoffs so role players have a lot more pressure.

Without Yao, the team stood up heroically. Couldn't be happier.

We're a better team with T-mac in the line-up. I don't care if he starts or comes of the bench to begin with to limit his minutes and ease his way back.

Either way is fine - but to suggest trading him is just down right dumb.

That is true. I didn't consider that factor. Good thing we have Ron Artest to alleviate some pressure off them, unless he chokes as well.

Seriously, we have T-Mac and Yao doing the heavy lifting when it comes to the playoffs. All Ron and crew have to do is help them out and we're on the way out of the first round. It really is that simple. We've had talent a couple season's past, but it never came together in the playoffs. Now we have even more talent, but it remains to be seen if it'll all show up in the playoffs.

I think we shouldn't have a set starting lineup, and just kind of change our lineup based on who we are playing against. For Example looking at a few top teams in the west:

Spurs: Rafer, Battier, Artest, Scola, Yao. Putting Battier and Rafer on Parker and Ginobli would be awesome, and we can even switch battier back and forth on Ginobli to really wear him out and shut him down.

Lakers: Rafer, T Mac, Battier, Scola, Yao. Battier on Kobe (Battier gives Kobe more trouble than anyone else in the NBA) Have T Mac focus on offense, have Scola and Yao handle Gasol (maybe bring in Hayes early to really help out defensively, then when Gasol goes out and gets worn out, keep yao on the court).

Suns: Rafer, T Mac, Battier Artest Yao... Yao on Shaq, the more athletic Artest on Amare (I know he has less size than Scola, but I would much rather a Artest on him than scola).

You can change those however you want, my point is we have 6 guys that would start for any team in the NBA (minus rafer but he runs our offense well and we need a pg). Why not just switch it up depending on who we play.

This is an old question. Put Ron to the second lineup, keep the original lineup like last year.
