Agree with this..but you can't just stay one night on a weekend. Have to commit to 2. Great bar by the pool there.
I was working at Galveston like 4 years ago and every morning I would go to this place called Henry's (I think that's the name). They had badass breakfast plates and hunormous breakfast burritos for like 3$. The burritos were so big I would have to save half for lunch.
The Strand is a bit of a letdown if you've been to 6th Street or the French Quarter. There's a nice winery place there though...Divine Wines I think it's called. Can't go wrong with Moody. Perhaps overlooked is the Lone Star Flight Musuem. Pleasure Pier is fun. You can take a ride on the Bolivar Ferry.
My wife liked that little winery. There's actually a few things to do at pier 20 & 21. We had considered staying at the small hotel there some weekend.
You mean IN the pool. We usually go for an extended weekend every year and stay there, but that pool bar is nasty. People will sit there for hours drinking and never leave their stool. Wonder where all of the piss is going? We just wait until the evening, walk across the street to the beach and have drinks.
Spot is fun to people watch. They also have batting cages at the put put place. So much wreckage. I worked at Shearn's for four years as a chef. Helped put together the new menu. Great food and great service. Ask for Kelly to be your waiter. He is an awesome dude. If you let me know before hand I will let my guys know you are coming and they can do something nice for you. Best breakfast burrito ever. They use that thick bacon and it is cooked excellent and their sauce is the sauce. If you are a drinker, this can be fun. Go to Rudy & Paco's or Luigi's for lunch. Avoid Yaga's, a bunch of Sea Aggie brats work there. La King's is the bomb. My wife and I go there and split a banana split. And then there is this.
The pool bar at Moody Garden's much nicer, and less people usually. I miss the Balinese Room. /story Where did you work? Did you live on island? The chocolate covered candied orange peel is yum!
