Didn't you question their age to their coach over the phone? If you didn't even know their age how would you know for A FACT that they just arrived from Mexico and we placed in Kindergarden?

I called their coach to tell him what is being said about his team...I do not hold things back...I go right to the source...and to ask him what the deal was....

Their coach is the one that told me that most don't speak English and that they just got here from Mexico and started Kindergarten.

When I asked their ages and whether they were all 5 or 6...he basically hemmed and hawwed and finally said he didn't know.

The reason I think they are 8 is because some spanish speaking coaches in our league that have played them asked some of their players their ages, and a couple of them said 8.....

Update: I brought it up to the commissionar, he has been hearing about it apparently all year, and says that there will be major changes if we are going to let that soccer club play in our league next year.

Basically, birth certificates are going to be required......essentially he told me they know this team is cheating.....Great.

The only stupidity in this thread are oversensitive people trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

    SHEESH !

    Classy.

I still think your comments are not facts and are simply assumptions which leads me to believe you have racist tendencies. I won't lose any sleep over it tonight though.

Good luck with the game and if the children in question are in fact that old, hopefully next year things get fixed so the games can be fair for the kids.

I was trying to back you up , I think that you are right, and you were not trying to imply stupidity.

I think assuming someone is racist because you have reading difficulty and comprehension issues is idiotic. Methinks you are too sensitive.....

Half of my conversation with Swoly-D is in jest because of our little back and forthing between the tri-colors and the USA in soccer.

Why would it be racist to talk about kids from Mexico that are just starting school in the USA, and don't speak English very well so are starting at the Kindergarten level?

That is what their coach told me, and I was giving the reason for why I said they were spanish speaking kids in Kindergarten.

They are KIDS for crying out loud......I am happy they are getting an education.....I just don't want them cheating and playing in a 5 year old league when they are 7 and 8.

    Sheesh !

I appreciate it.....I think you understood the context...without being overly sensitive.

Er...not to bash Da Dakota who I like.

But didn't he post a thread before about coaching a team that routinely slaughtered all opposition by like 20 goals and he kept score religiously despite the fact the league officially didn't.

If that's the case maybe it would be a character builder for those kids to be out classed by bigger stronger opposition...specially if no one gets hurt and its only for one game.

Again I hope I am not offending. And if my memory is mistaken forgive me.

Edit: Whoops I didn't read the entire thread. But yeah...if they are undefeated (or close) despite the games being "closer"...I don't think your kids are gonna be so demoralized they lose their love for the game if someone beats them one time.

We do slaughter a lot of teams, but this year they made the fields smaller so much less scoring with a crowded field.

I am more worried about injury than winning or losing.

First, they take our jobs, and now they take away our 5 year old's soccer trophies.

    This insanity has to stop!

Come on DaDa. You are more worried about your superstar uber competitive son not being able to get his 5 goals a game, as you have bragged so proudly about in the past. ;)

We won 17-13.....my son got 6 goals Codell....2 left footed by the way...

    ;)

I spoke to their coach, he was a nice guy, who said that next year they will make sure of their kid's ages.

I'm curious how many other posers were hoping you got slaughtered.

I like you DaDa, but your soccer threads say a lot more about you than you probably intend to impart.

Rashmon.......it is all how people read the context, it is very difficult to discern intent in reading someone's posts.

I am glad you hoped that my 5 year old son's team got slaughtered, it says a lot more about you than you intend to impart.

    :D

All kidding aside, what I post in the BBS is hardly how I coach the team.....having fun talking smack on a bulletin board is much different than raising children and teaching them right from wrong.

We did go undefeated this year though......but the kids don't know that.....only the parents.....

You really believe that? I suspect that at least some of the parents let their kids know they are undefeated. Since your son HATES (your capitalization) to lose, doesn't he know they went the season without losing?

Possibly, but we don't show any importance to winning or losing just having fun.

If the kids know, and I suspect you are right, they probably do....then they should be proud of their acheivement.

And they are all taught to keep it to themselves and be more happy they had fun playing.

The same group of kids (well at least 3 of them) also played T-ball and we lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs.....where scores are kept.

No one seemed bothered, they were all just happy they had fun...which is as it should be.

I am just happy they are enjoying competing.......

I have to say though, this country is built on the foundation of acheivment and competition, there is nothing wrong with kids competing and learning how to win and lose, IMO.

    There is competition throughout life.....
