So much for a "motion offense" all I see is peeps standing arounding and a lot of 1 on 1 play. No imagination to the offense. You have a PG who can jump out of the gym and 7'5 center with skillz and mobility and they still find ways to lose bad. At least compete guys. I'm glad baseball has started and the 'Stros are off to a good start, for now.
Will for President .......... of the Rockets that is Couldn't have said it any better. What the (I have to curse here) is wrong with the Rockets organization. I hope they have realized this and do something about it this offseason. Message to Rockets org: get a PG and make sure he passes the IQ exam.
If your argument is "what have you done for me lately", then you may have a point. But if your argument is to downplay Rudy's accomplishments in 93-95, then that is revisionist history. True, we did have problems with the Sonics until we traded for Barkley (and then we beat them in the playoffs). In the 93 playoffs, it came down to a last missed shot in game 7 at Seattle - about as close as you could get. That game 7 would have been in Houston if there had been replay on the Robinson shot 2 seconds after the buzzer in the last game of the regular season. That Rocket team that lost a photo finish to the Sonics in 93 improved the next two years (until it took a step backwards in 96), so who is to say they could have beat us those two years. The point is, they didn't, because they were not good enough to get past the eight seed, Denver. You play the team that is in front of you. As for the Bulls, I guess you have forgot that we had their number when we faced them during the regular season during that era. Do you think Jordan looked forward to being guarded by Maxwell? It is not our fault the Bulls did not make it to the finals in 94 and 95 (and they did have Jordan in the 95 playoffs).
Um, no. I'd say the team is performing as expected with the dumbest guards in the entire NBA and the worst forwards, along with being the 2nd-youngest team in the league. He has proven that he CAN COACH. That has been established. You don't forget how to coach. He doesn't need to 'prove' anything this year. What has NOT been established is whether or not these players can win. The PLAYERS are the ones with something to prove, not the coach.
Rockets will need to address ISO issue and plan on implementing a better offense. They will also need to trade for players that are willing to run a motion offense. The one on five offense has got to go and so do the players that love that kind of play. Only players that should be back : Steve (SG) Yao (Center) Posey (SF) fill in the rest with new players.
The guy had to change his team around instead of coaching through the Sonics, and then made his team vunerable to the Jazz, who they lost to in a game 6 the next year and then went out in the first round the two years afterward. But you are right, you play who's in front of you that's all you can do. I can't argue with that. As for Rudy T not having to prove himself, that's ridiculous. The guy is not going to the playoffs for the 4th straight year after 2 straight years of first round exits. Exactly when does he have to prove he's doing a good job.
Well...The Rockets suck...forget about this season. I am more looking foreward to what the Rockets do in the offseason. I remember Les Alexander said that the Rockets didnt make the playoffs he was goin to make some "wholesale" changes...
Please provide a link. I am not doubting you, but I have never seen this and would love to see a quote in the media to this effect.
From another thread- 1. Mark this down, Rudy is not going. Rudy and Les should both know now that: a. Eddie Griffin is not a physical PF and at this time is only an average role player. b. We lack a consistant outside shooter c. Yao is a rookie and cannot carry the team- he will become a very good center as he gains rest, strength, and NBA experience d. Steve is best offensively when he can drive and go strong to the basket and will have to improve his outside shooting, if he is going to be able to take this team to a championship. e. Cato and MoTaylor are pretty good off the bench. f. Steve cannot at this point in his career defend playing the point. (not sure what that means if he moves to the 2) g. The team defense stinks when they play man h. We must improve at the 2, 3, and 4 positions i. We need a point guard badly and may have to move Steve to the 2 guard. All of this has been hashed and re-hashed over and over. I believe we will try to move somebody but I don't expect much to come of it - We really need a physical 4, a good consistant outside shooter, and a floor general/Point player who can run an offense.
