Here is my take on Cat and his passing or lack there of... Yes he has had problems in that department. But the last part of the season, he seemed to really make a concious effort to pass more when defenses collapsed on him. On one occasion it was to EG with the clock running down in the 4th Q of a close game. EG missed the shot, and the Rockets lost, but the point is that Cat passed. I think cat's game smarts really improved toward the end of the season. There were games when his outside shot wasn't falling so he started driving the ball. Shortly after that Cat hit that streak where his shooting was superb. Around this time was also when he was at his best as far as passing. Was his passing perfect? No. Was it an improvement? Yes. I see no reason to think that an improved passing game from Cat won't continue. One reason for the possible lack of passing may also be found in who was receiving the pass. Cat even double teamed, may have a better chance of scoring than TMO wide open. The players that Cat was supposed to have passed to probably didn't inspire a lot of confidence. I'll concede that he still should have passed the ball, but I still can understand someone thinking there were better options.
Yeah! Put a guy who scored 24.5 ppg on 46% field-goal percentage on the bench! Then his talent will be used appropriately. And the Rockets' excuses are valid. Look at the New Jersey Nets. They were in the basement of the east last year, but now they are Eastern Confrence Champions. Yes, they had a major addition with Kidd, but Kerry Kittles, Keith Van Horn, and Kenyon Martin's health was also a big key. We can also add a good player this offseason too.
In your post, you said we can't use the team being hurt as an excuse and that you didn't think they should HAVE made the playoffs, just win 15 more games. I naturally assumed you were saying that they should have won 15 more games this season that just finished than the previous one where they won 45. 45+15=60. So either I read your post wrong or you didn't word it in a way that conveyed what you where thinking.
what does this mean? someone please explain it to me, was the team not hurt or what? i've seen similar quotes a number of times now but i just don't understand it. this fits along with the, "let's bench mobley cause that's where he should be." i think this is just the new hip thing to say as well because all lighting fast first-step, 20 plus point scorers should lose their starting jobs.
