Well... yes. Yes, I would. :)

It's funny that people can rag on the ducks and love the bobbleheads. WTF? Dolls, good; ducks bad? As far as random plastic trinketry and clutter are concerned, I don't see how either has an advantage on the other.

This is a horrible attempt at outdoing bobbleheads. I wouldn't pay more then 10 bucks for a SF celebriduck on ebay.

 So what have you been doing for the last year? Far as anyone can see not much except for a few bad billboards. I'm sure Joe Pasadena enjoyed busting his tail at work all day only to be greeted by a rockets billboard in Chinese!

But honestly, what happened to the rockets. They used to be all over the place. It must be difficult to compete with the Texans. Seems like you can’t turn around without seeing a logo or hearing a promo on the radio or seeing it on TV.

What are you planning to do about this?

Bobbleheads are in the shape of a human being - the actual form most pro athletes take. Celebriducks are the same pro athletes in duck form. I don't even know where to begin.

Wow, way to introduce yourself to one of the nicest guys on the bbs 11yr.

All this quacking reminded me of a question for you Tim. We saw the thundersticks at the last game and tried to buy some, but the people in the shops said that noisemakers are only given out for promotions.

Is this a policy of the Rockets or do these things really not sell? I want the stadium to be loud, and my voice wears out after a while.

Yes. For those of you who this is important to (you know who you are), Celebriduck bills itself as the only duck maker (yes, believe it or not, there are more than one) that makes a duck that floats upright. We tested it on the Sheryl duck (big time scientific research here), and it works.

Ducks, bobbles, etc. are really only a small piece of the overall marketing puzzle -- but we know a lot of people have fun with them, and the magic is in the details. So, on a certain level, even things that sound as silly as this are important.

We actually made heavy use of Thunderstix for the Comets season, and they were a huge hit. We're trying them out for the visitors' goal end zone at the start of the Rockets' season (we give them out at halftime). That's where fans get into them the most, and where the Big Bang drummers can lead them along.

We may go wider with them later in the year ... we'd love it if a sponsor joined up and wanted to support the program. The few nights we took the plunge and went arena-wide with the Comets, it was impressive.

We'll talk with FMI (the company who handles merchandise sales in Compaq Center) about selling them, but it will really be their decision. Of course, in the new arena, we'll be operating merchandise sales ourselves.

And don't worry, I'll e-mail 11yr to get a better idea of what his concerns are. We've been doing a lot, but he may not have been exposed to it yet. Basic principles of marketing -- everybody's opinions are valid. My job to make sure he knows what we're up to.

We need an "Ask Tim" Forum! LOL... :D

Q: Tim, I'm getting calls from the Rockets but they never leave me a message... do you think it's season ticket sales cold calling or does the organization need my services? ;)

Actually, they were looking for another hard-nosed defense, 3 pt. shooting spark plug to come off the bench. That's you, right?

You should call back right away. :)

And if they sell you some tickets while you're on the phone, it's all good, right?

Actually the super nice ones aren't even out yet. I wouldn't recommend buying any "Sage" ones. Last time I checked, they weren't an NBA licensed product. Wail for something like Ultimate Collection to come out.
