I tend to be more of a fan of players than teams. If it's not a Houston team playing I try to find a player I like and then go for that team by default. If there's no player I'm a fan of I try to justify to myself why I should root for one team over the other. Sports are always more fun when you're rooting for someone, even if it's only for one game.
FSU (and they lost to Clemson... but I still pull for them.) I was born in Florida... and though it's sacrilige, I kinda follow UF and AU too.
There IS no mediation. You like your team, or you don't. Period. Just because your team may suck in a given year doesn't mean you get to find a team that year to hold on to. I'm about to vomit. HERE ARE THE RULES: EVERY PERSON CAN PICK ONE, I REPEAT, ONE TEAM IN THE NFL, NCAA, MLB, AND NBA. IF WE CATCH YOU CHEERING FOR ANYONE ELSE, YOU'RE BANNED. I'm hoping that little speech stops the other people on here, but, who knows?
OK...I'll bite: NFL - Baltimore Ravens (because of my brother) MLB - Boston Red Sox (because of my cousin) NBA - San Diego Clippers (because they sucked for so long) College Football - changes from year to year...I like TCU this year
I know some would consider me a UT t-shirt fan because I ultimately went to Baylor. But even when I was at Baylor, I was rooting for UT. My family is burnt-orange to the bone and I walked away from my room at University Towers because of a girl that was headed to Baylor. HOOK 'EM!! in pro sports...there are teams outside of houston that i kinda like. but none i'm passionate about.
I only like the Houston pro teams. No reason to root for any other pro team. They are all the ememy, so I hate them. College, I'm a casual fan of: UT Football (since the Ricky Williams days) UH Basketball (Phi Slamma Jamma) Rice Baseball (I like the smart kids) I would never wear a T shirt of any of these schools though. It would just be too weird for me since I didn't go there. I only wear Sam Houston gear.
I'm a fan of all Houston teams, save the Texans. For NFL, it's the Ravens for me. I was originally a Browns fan since the days of Bernie Kosar. When they moved to B-more, I followed the team there. I'm also a fan of whomever is on any one of my fantasy teams.
I hope I never have to move from Houston (or Katy, for that matter), but since we have team from every major sport, I am a fan of all HOUSTON teams and will root for them 'till DEATH. In MEXICO, there was no hometown soccer team, so my team became Las águilas del améerica". I am definitely a t-shirt fan, just like Sishir Chang. I am definitely my home country's national soccer team T-Shirt fan. The only one for whose team I don't hold any links to but I am still a fan is Rice. I just enjoy seeing their games, even if they're not that good.
First off- football/Soccer- Manchester United thru and thru. Bristol rovers-(lived in Bristol for a bit, hard to find much gear for them). U.S. Sports NBA- The Rockets-(The Nigerian in me had to support Dream and then i moved to H-town. MLB- St.Louis Cardinals-( i lived in St.louis when we first moved to the U.S.) NHL- St. Louis Blues- See above NFL- St.Louis Rams- See above, plus i was a fan before the greatest show on turf took center stage. Tough times watching the team in the mid 90's as they probably would have lost to last season's Texans. Once I moved to Houston, three good things happened to St.Louis, The Rams won the Superbowl, McGwire broke the HR record and then the Cards got back to the World series. I guess i shouldnt move back to St.Louis.
Dedicated loyal true blue fan of Rockets, Astros, Texans, Cougars Casual fan of Rice, Comets, Aeros, Dynamo Other teams I will root for if no Houston Team is playing Padres, Whoever is playing against the Cowboys, Whoever is playing against the Yankees and Red Sox. Former SWC schools that aren't UT, A&M or Arkansas, Packers, Detroit Tigers, LSU, Whoever I have money on and whoever is on my fantasy team.
True fan: Rockets, Astros, Lamar Cardinals Casual fan: Texans, OSU Cowboys, Bulls, Florida Panthers (Beaumont's Minor League team is an affiliate), Whoever happens to be an up-and-coming team, i.e. Twins
Nobody is ever a T-shirt fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, which makes our showing in our colors at the TCU game just that much more awesome. Now, if only our team had shown up.
