Cy's record is the winner. Thats averaging 20 win seasons for 25 years. lol. Heck, its gonna be a long ass time before anyone gets to 300 again...
Baseball records are fun... Most strikeouts in a season: Matt Kilroy: 513* in 1886. *The rubber was ten feet closer to home. Oldest Rookie (probably in any pro sport): Satchel Paige: 42 years old Youngest Player: Joe Nuxhall: Age 15 (1944) Most Inside-the-Park HRs in One Game: Tom McCreery: 3 (1897) Most Balks in a Game: Bob Shaw: 5 (1963) Career Losses: Cy Young: 316 Most Outfield Assists in a Career: Tris Speaker: 450 Most Unassisted Double Plays by an Outfielder in a Career: Tris Speaker: 6 Most Innings Pitched in a Single Game: 26 by both Leon Cadore and Joe Oeschger, both in the same game in 1920.
Vancouver Grizzlies & Denver Nugget's losing streak at 23 in a row!! The Celts challenged it last year, but you'd have to be sucking pretty hard to lose 23 in a row.
LOL - Some of those are insane! 3 Inside-the-Park HRs in 1 game! 6 unassited dps by an Outfielder? 26 innings - and both starters stayed in the game?
Tony Gwynn almost did. He probably would have broken Rose's hits record if his knees weren't shot so early. Tony was a stud.
damn, was that before or after deshaies, ryan, and scott pitched the 2 hitter, 1 hitter, no hitter trifecta to clinch?
Vince Young = 1,324,345 and counting the number of dedicated threads on CF.net pertaining to a person that never played pro basketball .
May not mean as much to most Americans but Sir Donald Bradmans average when it comes to cricket will never be beaten. The guy was that far ahead of the field it wasn't funny. Over his entire career he averaged 99.94 runs per innings and that was on pitches that weren't protected from the rain and with no helmet. To put it in perspective, a cricketer today is considered an all time legend if he can average high 50's to low 60's over his career.
That strike year messed everything up. Matt freaking Williams was on pace to break the single season home run record and Tony Gwynn was hitting something like .395 before they ended the year.
Cy Young's 511 career wins is the most unbreakable... most people think there won't even be another pitcher with 300 wins.
I don't think it's possible for anyone to break Wilt's career record of 23,924 rebounds. He averaged 20 rpg for his career; other than Russell, nobody is even close to him, and I don't think anyone will ever get close again.
NHL: Wayne Gretzky: 215 points in one season Wayne Gretzky: 2857 points in his career NBA: Wilt Chamberlain: 100 points College: John Wooden: 88 straight wins Pete Maravich: 44.2ppg Baseball: Cy Young: 511 wins Cal Ripken: 2632 straight games Golf: Byron Nelson: 11 straight tour victories Soccer: Pele: 1217 goals Biking: Lance Armstrong: 7 Tour De France wins
Here is another lock as I was reading about it earlier: Walter Johnson with the most shutouts in a career - 110. I think that one is pretty untouchable.
