Favre and Ripkens records will never fall

Favre's is mind blowing to me

    Cal's is pretty crazy too.

Of course nobody will win 500 games but that was a different era.

Someone (maybe Ichiro) will break 56 one day

My guess is it's closer to 19,997.

Even Hakeem the Dream was getting laid. The only NBA player to ever not get laid was I think AC Green.

Wilt Chamberlain averaged 48.5 minutes a game in 61-62. Unbreakable.

Edwin Moses going nearly 10 years without losing in the 400m hurdles has to be way up there.

I say the same thing every time his name shows up on this board: Best. Sports. Story. Ever.

    on topic...

    Wilt: 100 pts/game
    Ryan: strikeouts/no-hitters
Tony Hawk: first place finishes in pro skateboarding career

I read that when he would walk onto the track runners would be stunned and start whispering "Here comes Moses." in a quiet, scared kind of voice.

Los Angeles Lakers (71-72) win 33 consecutive games, I can't really see a team in the NBA (now or any time soon) that could win 34 games in row....that's unbeliveable.

Jerry Rice's all-time receptions, yards, and touchdown records....I don't see any WR in the next 50 odd years getting to that.

Joe Dimiggio's Hitting Streak - somebody who is incredibly luck, blessed, has luck some serious lucky charms with all the planets aligning.

CY's 500 - Not ever again unless pitcher plays until he is 60.

8 seasons leading in touchdowns by Don Hutson. The closest are Emmitt Smith and Jim Brown with 3.

72 wins in NBA seasons, I don't think a team will get that any time soon.

Wilt's two consecutive seasons average over 40 ppg - 50.4 ppg and 44.8 ppg, 10 seasons averaging over 20 rebounds, and 100 pts in a single game (Kobe won't even reached that).....I don't think the 20,000 can be proven, besides I'm sure there are some other folks that's gotten more or equal to that than that...serial adulterers/ess, johns, prostitutes, lotharios, unofficial harlots, and p*rn stars/performers (not all are stars).

Yankees 27 WS Champions...at least not in baseball.

    Ricky Henderson's stolen base records.

Dennis Rodman's hair color changes.....truly unreachable and remarkable. (blonde, silver, gray, green, white, streaks blue, red, pink, and etc etc.

Old TV Nielsen Rating Records in major sports, such Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey: All three you used to average from like 8.0 - 30.0 % ratings share now...all three under 10.0 %, while NFL/NCAA Football is 38% - 45%. Sadly, those three will never reach 13.0 rating shares ever again.

Billy Martin - fired and rehired like 5 times by same team....never in Today's world.

Lance Armstrong's Tour De France Victories.....this doesn't not withstanding the consecutive victories. This is just total victories.

I will think of few that have yet to be accomplished will be the hardest break....

    1. 3 straight Super Bowls in row

    2. 2 consecutive season with 2,000 rushing yards in NFL (that's pretty hard)

    3. 19-0 in a single NFL season, Most consecutive Home winning streak 27 by Dolphins, two came close in 90s, but remember this was in early in the FA years. Packers - 25( 95-98), Broncos - 24 (96-98). It's too much parity and injuries to account for team to go undefeated at home for 3 seasons

    4. 3 minutes, 40 second mile by person

    5. Opposing Points Allowed Per Game in the entire NBA season - under 80 ppg

    6. 50 TDs in single NFL season, Marino's record 48 TDs and the first to reach 40 was only accomplish three other times in NFL history, one more by himself, and other two being Kurt Warner (his rating believably is 2nd all time) and Peyton Manning (understandable).

    7. A woman suiting up for an NFL game or NBA game.

    8. Secretariat's records at the Derby and Belmont. 1.5 miles in 1 2/5.

    9. An active High school (non-graduate) player suits up(active) professional ball player in the NFL, NBA, or MLB while still a full-time student H.S. (and not senior). (This has happened before, but I doubt it will again). Joe Nuxhall did it at 15, but it was back in time that completing public education really wasn't a priority.

    10. A team with no hof or all-star players winning a championship (NBA, NFL, or MLB). This means that every player on your roster has never been selected to an all-star game, before that season....

somebody try to find one I gurantee you that every team that has won a championship has had at least one all-star player on it.

Pitchers only have about 30-34 appearances in given year nowadays...that one is pretty safe.

    pluto,

As a Red Sox fan, I would have to point out that the Bombers have won only 26 WS titles and not 27! :( :D As for everything else, I like your list. Here are some others I thought about:

Leading the NBA in both Assists and Points Per Game - Nate Archibald, IIRC, is the only person to ever do this.

Averaging a triple double for a season - Oscar Robertson

Averaging over 50 points per game for a season - Wilt Chamberlain

Oldest person to play in an NFL game - George Blanda at 48

I knew Sawks fan or Yankee hater...would comment about the Yank thing after I made a typo.

48 may not be so hard...I think Gary Anderson or Morten Andersen may try for, but you would have to consider that Blanda was a QB/kicker....so his would hold more precedence.

Mentioned Wilt earlier...nobody will break any of his records. The 20,000 is just........I'm lost for words....i think's been broken several times....I just I can't put my finger. I don't know how you could count that do threesomes and orgies count...then it might be little more fathomable.

    Oscar Robertson's....I think it's breakable...it won't be an easy feat. I think if it's broken...it will be a lesser known player or a borderline all-star...statline that looks like this....12 ppg, 10 rebs, and 10 ast. I could see player averaging that. but not 25 ppg, 10 rebs,and 11 ast....that's r****ded like most basketball statistics before 70s. 50 ppg.....20 rebs....100 pts game....120 ppg.....20,000 women.

    100% agree.

In fact, I'd put my life savings down as a wager that this will NEVER come close to being broken.

Former (and late) Houston Astro [edit] Don Wilson [edit] was pitching a no-hitter in a meaningless (for the Astros, Reds were a few games out of first) early September game after 8 innings. He was lifted for a pinch hitter by Astros manager Preston Gomez because they were losing. It could have been his 3rd no-hitter and he was 29 at the time.

Bob Knepper through 5 perfect innings back in 1986 and was removed from the game because it was his last start before the playoffs.
