Here are a couple of bands that were at SXSW last week.

    Besnard Lakes - Devastation
    http://radio3.cbc.ca/bands/THE-BESNARD-LAKES/

    Mother Mother - Neighbour
    http://radio3.cbc.ca/bands/MOTHER-MOTHER/

Besnard Lakes are an indie buzz band right now and this album will I’m sure end up on a lot of year end top 10 lists. It’s a strange cross between the Beach Boys and maybe Pink Floyd, and it takes a couple of listens to get into, but once it creeps into your mind a bit it’s good stuff.

Mother Mother is a very young and quirky band. They have some very catchy harmonies and some songs that really work well, but they also have a few that don’t really work for me. I think the next album from this band will be the one to watch, but there are still some great songs on this one.

(If the above links don’t work for you you can go to radio3.cbc.ca and then look for the New Music Canada link near the top right of the page, and then look for the Artists link near the top of that window. You can then find the bands alphabetically, and note that The Besnard Lakes is under T for The.)

Have you listened to their track produced for Nike running titled "45:33" released last year? It made alot of top ten lists for best music.

    I really like it.

Explosions in the Sky- Snow and Lights

I still don't think Explosions in the Sky is better than Mogwai or Ratatat, but I'm giving this album a second listen.
