delonte is a RFA the cavs will match any offer like that that he signs. I wouldnt mind having Sam I am back on the team as a backup PG role. it would be awesome overnight the team will have gone from a talented team who hustled to one that is more talented, hustles and will get in your face about it too. oh and tinman would fall in a faint if sam is seen wearing the #10 in red and white again. realistically though I see Morey splitting the MLE between Landry and Dorsey. Dorsey is a second rounder who I think Morey is really high on and doesnt want to handle him the same way he did with Landry.
Lindsey Hunter. The guy is old as hell at age 37 but he's another one of those players that bring good championship luck and he makes big plays at big time moments. Sure he may only have a year left but this coming season is OUR year. Use him as a quick fix to get the ring and worry about a replacement next season.
If Landrys knee was not an issue, im sure other teams would have already made an offer to Landry n it would have been in the news. If Landry really does not have knee issues as his agent claims, then why not do the tests that Morey asked for?? just smells fishy. If Landry n his agents r smart, they should just take what Rockets are willing to offer and take a short term deal, prove that he his really worth as much money he is asking for n go for the big money later.
I agree completely. There is no need to mess with the current rotation unless the Rockets could SIGNIFICANTLY (and that is the important part) upgrade at the backup PG or C spots. If anything, assuming that Landry and Deke are re-signed, the most likely moves will be minor trades before the trade deadline to get the Rockets under the luxury tax threshhold like they made last season. Les Alexander just shelled out a ton of money, plus likely pushed the Rockets a little further into luxury tax territory, to bring the City of Houston a third star. No need to pile on and demand that he spend his whole MLE on guys that obviously would not figure into the rotation. The Rockets have full Bird rights on Dikembe, so they don't have to dip into the MLE to re-sign him. I sincerely hope that Deke will agree to re-sign for the veteran's minimum (expected to be $1,262,275 for a veteran with Deke's years of experience) rather than demand a larger deal. If he signs for the vet minimum, then only a portion of that salary will count against the salary cap (and presumably luxury tax). However, if he demands even $1 more than the vet minimum, his full salary would count against the luxury tax. You can read more about that specific issue here: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#11
We're very strong at the 2,3,4. Elite at the 5 but with a decent chance of injury and the drop off is huge. We are mediocre at the 1 with a rookie and a rehabbing former star as backup. Case in point we were playing without a 1 or a 5 during the playoffs vs. the Jazz, Alston was so beat up he could barely walk and Yao was out. We've improved at the 1 with Barry able to play spot minutes. Nothing happening so far at the 5. Deke is an insufficient backup for yao and Brooks is definately insufficient as a backup for the already mediocre Alston. As I said Barry can play spot minutes at the 1 which will help there. My guess is Morey is waiting to see how Dorsey, Brooks and SF3 play in the pre-season. Bottom line is we need someone at least decent as a backup at the 5, which now seems to be by far the biggest liability.
I was gonna say that also....I Think WHITE CHOCALATE would be a perfect backup that can be signed on the cheap... and the rest of the MLE could be used towards getting landry back or if landry keeps Bsin then the rest can go to whatever backup scrub C is out there who can be servicable. I think JWILL will bring experience plus he's played for adelman before.
That is a good idea but I would try to keep Battier and get Delonte West. He is a good shooter and good defender. The only problem is that the Cavs will match.
...on Landry. He'll be good trade bait in December to get back some picks. Do the Bobcats have their first rounder for next year? They need a PF and all their draftings have been busts lately.
is walter herrmann avaliable? he adds another 3 point shooter and bench scorer with size. i'm up for resigning landry; he was integral to our success last year and really gives us a lot of depth at pf.
Delonte West's negotiations isn't going to well with the Cavs. Maybe we can sign him or do a S&T for Luther, Chuck, or Novak.
I like one of these options: P.J. Brown Jamaal Magloire DJ Mbenga Francisco Elson Michael Doleac Lorenzen Wright (cheap veteran) Alonzo Mourning (unlikely due to knee issues) Dikembe Mutombo + Carl Landry I think we still need another big man to get some minutes banging around with the likes of Shaq, Duncan, Stoudemire, etc... Dorsey isn't ready and we don't want Yao doing that by himself. I think we should make a strategic signing aimed to help us specifically with athletic bigs like Stoudemire or bruisers like Shaq.
How about Josh Powell, just waived by the Clippers. He'd be a very nice pickup if Landry doesn't re-sign.
