The blocking foul needs to be modified especially after watching Lebron and Kobe both drive their shoulder and head first into the defender and not get called for offensive foul. Simple rule similar to NFL, If you drive head first into a defender then its an automatic offensive foul. So many times in the Lakers series, Kobe just used his head and side of his shoulder to draw contact on Shane and get the foul.
No hand check at the post when the post player starts to dribble the ball. And that'll be consistent with the "no hand check" rule for driving to the basket from perimeter. Why NBA discriminates post players with its rules?
More video reviews for officials is what I want. Anytime there's a stoppage of play, it should be up to the ref's discretion what they want to review. There's too many restrictions on it right now, and as a fan that's frustrating when there is an obvious blown call and the refs can't even go back and change it even when the video evidence is right in front of their face. On second thought, leaving it to the ref's discretion could be problematic. It would be an easy way to fix games. Maybe introducing a challenge system for coaches would work here.
1. ref offense and defense equally. lots of times the offensive player just drives into the defender and get a foul. lebron gets it alot and another big example was when roy just had nowhere to go and bumped with yao and yao got called with the foul. 2. stop the star treatment. lebron is a great player but dwight blocked his 3 point attempt and he got bailed out, something that wouldnt happen if it were another non-star getting blocked 3. ref the post and wing with the same standard. if you allow post playes to really fight and be agressive without and with ball, allow the same for all player and through out the whole game 4. change 3 seconds to 4 or 5 seconds 5. like it was already said , play advantage to allow the team defending to use the fastbreak when the opposing team is hit with a 24 shot clock violation
for the good of undersized teams, I would like to see the "chicken" (one player riding on a teammate's shoulders) finally be legalized.
Tech fouls count as personal fouls. Have never understood why they don't Penalise flopping. It's what prevents me from being able to enjoy watching soccer and it's becoming more and more prevelant in the NBA. Not sure what the answer is, but find a way to shorten the last 2 min of a close game. Right now when you get the situation where one team is fouling as soon as the ball is inbounded to force free throws, and with all the time outs it can take 15 min to play.
I'm pretty sure I heard Stern say somewhere he wouldn't mind implementing a challenge system. Even though that would slow down the 4th quarter tremendously.
As I posted before, the answer to this problem is to give teams the option of taking the ball out of bounds when there is a non-shooting foul in the penalty. The NFL has always recognized the idea that a penalty may be declined. The purpose of the penalty situation is to penalize the offending team. A team should not be able to use a penalty situation to its advantage.
Not necessarily. If they enforce it like the NFL, if the team challenging was wrong, they get charged a timeout. Something like that will actually speed the game up (fewer timeouts), so long as there's a limit to the number of challenges.
Remove the no hand checking rule. Remove the defensive 3 second rule. Let defenses play how they want, fronting and everything. But reduce total fouls from 6 to 5.
No more 3 seconds anywhere ever. Actually enforce illegal defense (double teaming a player who doesn't have the ball) 6 refs total. 3 isn't enough.
Penalizing flopping would present a whole new set of problems. How can you prove it was a flop? Etc. Just train the officials to spot them easier and be less likely to fall for them. All-Star Weekend Dunk Contest to only occur every four years. All-Star starters to be decided by fan vote of each specific position (C/PF/SF/SG/PG instead of C/F/F/G/G). The seven highest vote receivers from each conference automatically make the team. Remaining spots are filled in the traditional method. Playoffs First round series back to best-of-five. In the event that a team with a losing record makes the playoffs when a team from the opposite conference with a winning record misses them, the team with the winning record will have an opportunity to take the losing team's spot by defeating them in a game in their arena. (Ex: 2009, Suns would play the Pistons at Detroit for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference)
