Violet Palmer would never be allowed to ref a game for the rest of her life.

Stop calling Double Techs, because usually one player deserves a tech instead of both of them.

    Stop the flopping, it's pathetic.

I know this would give us an unfair advantage to us, but I would eliminate fronting and restrict double teaming.

I agree the flopping should be penalized. A foul for every flop.

Well, I think we're seeing a lot more charges now due to the fact that offensive players gets FT to balance out all the new rules that made basketball a non contact sport.

Bring back hand checking. Bring back wrestling in the paint (the good ole real center match ups) and let the players decide who wins or loses. "Riding" a player should not be considered a foul.

I would take away the 3 second rule. The fronting and double teams can stay. They just need to enforce the rules, where a player can't be dislodged.

My question strays a bit - but I have a question about hanging on the rim.
Do I recall some years ago where a rule was made about hanging on the rim - ie limiting it - ie hang on only until can safely come down to avoid injury to anyone else under the rim?

The fouls drawn where an offensive player jumps into a defensive player should not be called. I can understand some situations where it should be called, but when the offensive player initiates the contact...the defensive player is allowed their space, and if the offensive player invades that space, then the foul should not be called or even be an offensive call.

Similarly, the refs need to call much more consistently the "straight up and down" rule. This may sound homerish, because Yao never gets those calls, but Dwight didn't get the call either in Game 1.

I also think when it comes to technicals/flagrants/who started what foul situations, the refs should ALWAYS go to the replay to see who started it and see exactly what happened. Just something I think needs to be much more consistent in the way it is called.

Ultimately, refs need to be more consistent in their calls. As it stands now, it's just like the WWE where a ref can get distracted and miss a call. I understand that it's a bang bang game, but the refs need to be much better at getting these calls right; the fact that the action is so fast should never be an excuse.

Its very easy for us to call out flops sitting in front of our TVs with multiple camera angles and slow-mo replay. But it can be very difficult to tell when its a flop when there are extremely tall guys blocking the view in the flow of the action.

I agree something needs to be done, but a technical won't work.

I'd only allow 5 time outs per team in a game. I think having 7 per team slows the game way too much.

More consistency all over with the calls with an emphasis on traveling

I want to watch basketball, not free throw shoot outs. In the final two minutes of the game, all fouls automatically get 3 free throws. This will reward players who play the whole game instead of teams who play lazy for 3 quarters and turn it up in the fourth.

They need to really define traveling...someone link to that ESPN article about it.

I swear, Lebron travels every time he catches an inbound pass at the top of the key.

This is what I was going to suggest, in fact, that was something I suggested last year. One thing I can't stand is when the change of possession occurred anyways, the team that got the ball when the shot clock expired is forced to stop, then inbound the ball, which allows the offending team to get its defense back and set up at the other end. That team that rightfully got the ball when the shot clock expired so often wants to play on and get an easy basket, but can't. I say let them play on when the player on defense gets possession of the loose ball as the shot clock expires if he either throws the ball, or starts dribbling it, but if he's not able to do either, then stop play.

The only problem with that is there would be too much seating capacity taken away, and it would be less than what would be available for hockey games, which is something I don't think the NBA would even go for plus I think that would be pretty radical for basketball itself. I would say widen the court by 10 feet so that the three-point arc will be a uniform 23' 9" around the basket.
