And I thought JVG was the stubborn one who fit players into his pre-determined system, while Rick fit the system to the players.
Has Morey looked at the numbers at all? What is our offensive efficiency with Yao in the high post? With Rafer at the point? With Adelman as our coach?
I hate Yao in the high post. Absolutely hate it. As someone who grew up watching Hakeem dominate the low post for over a decade and then watched Yao begin to dominate it last year, it really is sad to see that aspect of the offense go away.
I hate it too. I didn't want Adelman hired from the beginning and feared that this would happen. Now it has been confirmed by rhester.... There is hope though, Yao was frustrated with his lack of post touches last game, will certainly be even more frustrated after today, and is very frustrated in general. I think he will do something about it; the frustration and displeasure are already there. I really hope he will take the initiative and speak out.
He is too soft to speak out (unless it is in the phantom Chinese press). He hasn't grown any ***** after twenty some odd years so what makes you think he's going to get a pair?
He has expressed more frustration now than I have ever remembered previously in his career. There is no doubt now that Adelman is intent on ruining him and surely Yao sees this. After a few more months of this garbage I think Yao just may be frustrated enough to go to the owner and demand a change.
This is just bu**** with a buch of nonsense. Should we disassemble an established winning line-up for that many question marks? We lost to Utah mainly because of our bench plays. Also, our two main guns had to go through some major injuries as well. Talent-wise or condition-wise, we are much better this year. Is a major change wise? I don't think so. Yes, both of our superstars are mentally soft, but that's the reality we have to deal, or you talk about rebuilding a franchise. Truly, no team is perfect. We for sure need to improve from where we were in last season, but I don't see the coach RA's approach is heading to the right direction. Bringing JVG back might be the best solution for this team at this crutial moment.
yeah, we're looking at about 88.8 efficiency, repeating of course <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BZjXqXkJ0_Y&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BZjXqXkJ0_Y&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> no but seriously, Morey needs to do a major assessment of this team and discuss with Adelman fundamental changes to the lineup and rotation..
Maybe Yao will demand a trade!! If so, he will have become more American than I ever could have imagined.
To me it looks like he has no clue what he is doing. Easing the team into his system? Thats what PRE-SEASON is for!! I miss Gundy. So far not a big RA fan......
Not Rick's fault TMac got injured. JVG didn't do much without TMac too... I blame this on Yao not being able to take over when he is suppose to be the "best" center in the league.
You must have been drunk when you posted this. You're dead wrong, the results were better, both from a W-L standpoint and statistically. Eat my junk for being such a moron.
This thread is just PURE STUPIDITY. What exactly has RA ease this team into? The offense is horrible. 1. Yao was supposedly going to get BETTER position with the new "O," but has he? 2. Tmac was supposedly going play more OFF the ball, but has he? 3. Our offense was supposedly going to be more efficient, but has it? Where is this easing crap? I would be fine if we were losing trying to learn the new offense, but hell, this is the same system we ran with JVG, only it is worse!
Bump- Based upon the way the offense looks I felt like I needed to clarify something I posted and also because DD is a good poster (at least one I like) I had posted that I had lunch with Adelman at the start of the season. I got to talk to him for about 10 minutes after the lunch. I asked three questions. One was would Yao remain in the low post and continue to develop (because I commented that I felt he needed to progress there still and become the dominate low post scorer in the league) Adelman's answer was yes, we want Yao to score in the low post, but we also want to move him out to the high post and take advantage of his passing and shooting, like we used Vladi Divacs in Sac. I just wanted to clarify that Adelman did not say he wanted Yao to become Vladi Divacs, just wanted to use him more in the same ways in the offense. I think Adelman is smart enough not to force Yao into something he is not. Also my other questions had to do with defense and Aaron Brooks. He told me they were a very good defensive team last season and that would be emphasized but that they would have to give up some defense in exchange for more possessions on the offensive end. On Aaron Brooks he said he watched him in college and liked him alot and thought through the season he would develop and contribute. That is it. I still like Adelman, I don't think he gives us a better shot than Van Gundy, but with the improved bench (hopefully these guys will improve) and if we can catch chemistry in Adelman's system and stay pretty nasty on the defensive end I think we will be alright. Right at the moment it all looks like it depends on TMac and Yao. And as far as the offense- our players just don't dictate the same offense that Sac had. We don't have Peja, Miller, Divacs, Bibby, Jackson and Webber in their prime. We have Chucky Hayes (Webber), Rafer Alston (Bibby), Battier (Peja)- surrounding TMac a slasher and Yao a low post scorer. See the difference?
