I explained it, if you don't agree fine, but we know where your disagreement comes from and it has nothing to do with sir jackie.
You're not making any sense. Your explanation was: What is racism if not prejudgment by association? My disagreement comes from you calling somebody racist using what basically amounts to a handful of magic beans worth of logic.
Donny, you are right, the statement doesn't make sense, but I think his statement doesn't really need to make sense, I took a swipe at him, so he was trying to take a shot back, regardless of whether it made sense or not...fair enough . I'm more interested in an explanation of how I supposedly "obsessed over this thread"? I am not taking this thread very seriously, really. Possibly . But I could swear that we had heated discussions of the case in later years and that you argued that he should get off, basically regardless of the facts. I can't find it right now, though, so if you honestly say this did not happen, I must be remembering it incorrectly.
That is not evidence that Chinese and Koreans are racist but that Asians are racist was what I was stating with that example. Remember that you were responding to was Asians and not Chinese or Koreans specifically. I am not saying that Spain, Great Britain are less racist than just that China and Chinese have been racist. If you recall my first post in this thread was that every people have been and have the capacity to be racist. You wrote: Except that Asians have done those sort of things. Sure not every Asian but Asian history is filled with enslaving people and killing other ethnicities. That the fact that Asians in recent history have been on the receiving end doesn't excuse that history. Frankly this sounds like a rationalization on your part to essentially accuse me of being a self-hating Asian rather than acknowledging history. I am actually a proud Asian but at the same time I am not going to ignore history. The fact is that Asians have been racist. The Japanese clearly were and to a certain extent still are. The Chinese were also. Anyway this has nothing to do with Asians in America or Asians in Asia. Actually it has nothing to do with me being Asia since I stated earlier in the thread that all people are capable of racism. There is nothing special about Asians that makes them any different than whites, blacks, Arabs and etc. in that regard. Also Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I mean that sincerely.
All races are racist, we all fear those who are not like us. The enlightened ones try to go out and experience as much out side of the comfort zone as much as possible. If it's not race, it's going to be economic standing, upbringing and experience. For example, I bet a white Harvard graduate from Mississippi get along better with a black Harvard student from NY than a trailer park white from Mississippi. Notice I didn't say they would necessarily get along well, but better. Another example would be just look at all the cliques at a H.S. lunch table in a mostly white school. Natural segregation beyond race right there.
All people who are somewhat uneducated are (capable of being) racist. Racism can easily be cured by a heavy dose of studying in fields like genetics, biological and cultural anthropology, neuroscience, psychology, sociology, history, urban planning, or group studies.

Stereotyping and prejudiced thoughts are natural mechanisms for a human mind that is geared towards grouping and categorizing our surroundings. If a lion eats your sister at a jungle, you're going to have a survival instinct to avoid lions. Subsequently, as social animals, we tend to group our tribe vs other tribes in order to mitigate unknown or random factors. That's a limitation we have to deal with because our brains generally can't handle each and every input and react to each on a case by case basis. Some theories point to emotions as a way for us to make quicker decisions. How does one choose a burger vs a chicken sandwich if both have relatively similar nutritional value and tastes? I choose the one I like better. That's reason enough. It's these emotions, fears and general ignorance that we all strive to eliminate but can't because they're foundations to what make us human. It takes a lot of effort to eliminate preconceived notions, but maybe these facts will help us cope in spite of it. I think future generations are becoming more cloistered as we have the ability to be with whom we choose rather than be forced to tolerate whom we're with. Our enlightened European counterparts never had affirmative action or a similar edict to diversify the workplace. They are more supportive of tolerance with lip service than with integration of any meaningful consequence. Similarly, I suspect that as we're spending more time online, those views would homogenize similarly to an 19th century neighborhood of like tastes and desires. Would the instant ability to research new cultures and trends defeat these walled digital gardens? Does a Huffpo reader visit Breitbart? Maybe it'd be like a surban white kid who loves and lives hip hop culture? Who knows, but it's something to pay attention to.
People saying Indian should in actuality broaden the spectrum to include other South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. We are collectively referred to as curries in Australia but my goodness there are a lot of terribly racist "South Asian" people.
Everyone is a racist on some level. Most people aren't aware of it. It's innate to who we are and is very deep and personal. But there's a difference between having racist feelings and instincts and having racist views and attitudes.
Is there a biological component to racism? For example, from a purely physical standpoint why are there certain races of women that a person would be more or less attracted to than others? Is this just a product of what a particular society defines as desirable and how you're socialized to accept that or is there a deeper biological component at work sometimes?
Most opinions in this thread following personal observations and some steroetypes: I think latinos and black cultures focus on living life, having family bonds, and don't get OVERLY concerned with philosophical ideologies on how the world should be like some white groups tend to do. Even when you preach passivity, I think just having any kind of ideological model of how the world such function can lead itself to a type of imperialist approach that crams EVERYONE into that model. Will agree with this. The seeds were planted way long before mass PR media, though its "hollywoodistic" mass media with the cliched "european standard" of beauty thats spread the influence. People don't want to believe they're that impressionable to social stimuli but I think we take it for granted. In another world if another race had the dominant influence, I think how people view "gingers" as something of a peculiarity could be how ALL WHITES are looked at if whites were the "minority".
The truth. America is lucky in a sense - the races there have no deeply rooted historical entitlement, whereas it;s a different story in Europe. That being said, the inferiority complexes in certain minorities do isolate them from living up to their potential on an emotional and social basis. Going into the real world with an optimistic and open minded vıew does A LOT for you in the long run. Like thadeus said, wealthy people (who have accrued their wealth through old money methods like corporations and firms) are easily the most racist. In high society, being judgmental is seen as "street smart".
History is history. I grew up as the only white kid in the neighborhood, and I've felt racism because of it. As I grew up and met more white people, I realized there are plenty of racist white guys. If you asked me who is hurt more by racism, I'd give you a different answer.
