More based on religious and political lines. Racism is more tied to culture than anything else. Also across the board, for whatever reason - it does seem that whites are the least discriminated group. I think world culture is inherently biased against dark skin. Might be because as people became wealthier they got less sun and thus had lighter skin than the "darkies" working the fields or out living as nomads. But that's pure speculation. I know Indians in India view whites favorably and blacks / Asians / and dark skinned Indians negatively.
He's also a psychotic. Of course there are blacks racist against whites, I am not saying that there isn't.
I'm going to disagree. Whites won the PR war and Hollywood and Ads are 90% of the reason, simple as that. Human behavior is shaped socially and media's become the de-facto guide, especially now more than ever since the world's become smaller than ever. There was a time when after the Vietnam war that half-white/Asian were shunned. Now they're considered desirable in the Thai media. This has happened over and over. My African American Professor during college made a teaching tour in China during the 80's. He said at that time, Chinese (not the people from HK) were more disagreeable towards Whites than African Americans. After the opening to the West during the 90's views started changed. It's the same with Japan before Perry's visit. Japanese at the time thought Westerners were dirty and strange looking, now they're almost strangely idolized. I don't really have much to say for Africa since there's not much history on interracial relationships. I do know that the moors inter-racially mingled in southern Europe. As for the race being the most Racist, I don't know. From reading Youtube however, when a white insults a person from a different race, it's usually racial. It seems being white to them is some great exclusivity and not being so is insulting. Conversely, when another race insults a white person, it's usually about being stupid or ignorant. It rarely has to do with race. That's my observation.
I think you're right on that. I've done a lot of reading and research into how cultures came about through a lot of different readings. One of the recent readings I came across was Legends of the Jews by Louis Ginzberg. Thought it was interesting as it pertains to this subject. If you feel like reading the curse of Ham, it alludes to this historical origin of world culture biased towards dark skin. Ham was the supposed father of the dark skinned races. http://philologos.org/__eb-lotj/vol1/contents.htm Section IV Noah under Curse of Drunkenness and Noah's Decedents Spread Abroad
Interesting. I'll read it when I get a chance, but the link seems a little religious. Got any other readings that are less tied to religion?
Well, it is Legends of the Jews. I mean, according to them and their traditions so history according to them.
In my personal experiences, growing up, etc.....I find it was always more about where I lived. I never thought about it in terms of what race was this or that. I've lived in a few places in America, and had pretty much no problems in California or NYC. I would find I had very mixed group of friends, always felt comfortable and happy. I've also lived in the South and racism, in my experiences, is way more out and open there. My time spent felt more segregated, uncomfortable and unintelligent. Please note, this is not to say there is only racism in one place, and not the other...same with the people. This is just my experiences....that's all.
For those who are so certain that Asians are all racists, I have a question. What made you so sure, because of your own experience or real family stories or history books or scientific researches? BTW, what have those few billion Asian racists done? Forced people from other races to slavery? Started race cleansing war? Killing or beating up people of other races for no reason? Passed laws to treat people of other races differently? What exactly have they done to qualify them as racists, in general, as a race, as a group?
My parents fall into this category (Cameroon and Haiti) and they were probably more outwardly tolerant out of necessity or just an innate sense of really good fortune.
My own personal experience has taught me that my own personal experience is far to narrow a scope to make any such judgment.
Eskimos. Dreamed I was an eskimo Frozen wind began to blow Under my boots and around my toes The frost that bit the ground below It was a hundred degrees below zero... And my mama cried And my mama cried Nanook, a-no-no Nanook, a-no-no Don't be a naughty eskimo Save your money, don't go to the show Well I turned around and I said oh, oh oh Well I turned around and I said oh, oh oh Well I turned around and I said ho, ho And the northern lights commenced to glow And she said, with a tear in her eye Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow
It's probably hard to be racist when there's so many of you around that you don't interact with anyone else except to offload some tettrazini to Marco Polo or teach Richard Chamberlain some sword forms. But Genghis Khan was the Hank Aaron of genocide. Pol Pot was the '72 Dolphins. And then Nanking and the whole South Pacific during WWII.
