Lennox Lewis. I would also show the tape of me kicking his ass wherever I went. Maybe it wouldmake him abort his comeback considerations.

The list would be far too long.

Does Osama Bin Laden count? If not...

We will start with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Ashcroft, then move on to Sean Hanity Bibi Netanyahu, Paris Hilton, most of the correspondents from E! channel, etc.

Or private figure for that matter. I would go to the mall first and run around slapping everyone I saw. See if it led to higher consciousness like N said.

please don't group billy graham in with those guys. unless you just hate Christians, in general. then go ahead and slap him.

osteen??? i've never heard anything but good things about that guy. but again...if you just hate Christians, have at it. but i don't put those guys in a group with jerry and pat.

i've heard that. lance z on the morning show told a funny story about him. lance said that he (lance) wasn't playing well and was cussing up a storm. meanwhile, this gawky looking guy was just draining on them...throwing in shots from all over the court and smiling. lance was cussing at him and losing his cool.

a week or so later he's flipping channels and he sees the guy who was nailing all the shots....it was osteen. he said he felt tiny! :) funny story!

i don't know osteen or his church very well...but i know they were a huge part in helping out the city after Allison.

dakota, i can't remember the dates. maybe late 80's to early 90's? i guess it's possible i schooled you at some point :D

max, i had no idea who he was. i said he wasn't bad, and yeah, he's kind of goofy-lookin', but it wasn't really his skills that made me remember him. something about his demeanor was different, there was something i just couldn't figure out about the dude. years later, also just flippin' through channels, i saw him televangelizing. weird.

When his dad died the church asked all of their members worldwide to pray and ask God to tell them who should be the next church leader. I was shocked when the church said God had told them it would be his son Joel. What are the odds?

    :D

i can't question them. it's their church. osteen is not roberts or falwell...he doesn't preach that kind of crap. i have SOME concerns about the messages that are taught there...a little too much "prosperity gospel" for me. but he doesn't strike me as offensive or anything.

i will say this...my father...who never goes to church and really doesn't have a sense of faith...loves watching this guy on TV...thinks he's a fantastic preacher because he's entertaining to listen to.

I know Joel from my days of playing with him at the Post Oak Y, and he is a great guy.

He never wanted to be a preacher, he wanted to get into television.

When his father died, he was asked to lead the congregation, and he agreed.

I think he is better than his dad, and find his preachings really well thought out.

As for hoops, I ALWAYS schooled him.......God could not help him on the basketball court.

    :)

Understood. My mother-in-law who is a lapsed Catholic who doesn't really know if she believes in Christianity loves watching him. I have listened or read a lot of his sermons and it is obvious why - so much is just about self-empowerment or being good people. So I agree fully with you (and obviously think some of it is concerning) I just thought it was funny that the church did that.
