Thanks for bumping my old thread! New additions to my PodCast roster: How Did I Get Here? Johnny Goudie, Austin musician for decades, sits down and interviews friends and colleagues of his on the local and national scene. It's indie-music nerd paradise. I know Johnny well... if you've ever seen him perform here or Austin (or elsewhere), you know how just naturally funny the guy is. It's definitely like a "WTF for the indie-Texas music scene" type of show. Awesome stuff, always funny and insightful. You Made it Weird Pete Holmes, good comedian and really funny person, interviewing other comedians. Pete is an acquired taste and really he's best in small doses. He gets added because sometimes, he'll have a funny guest on, they'll vibe, and I'll be in stitches laughing. The Todd Glass Show Wow... definitely an acquired taste, but I personally find this show to be HILLARIOUS (while my wife just stares at me like I'm growing a horn). I look forward to every Friday partly because for a new TGS episode. Any episode w/ Graham Elwood on it is just amazing. My own personal opinion, but I love podcasts and think that they're an amazing outlet for creative expression and source for knowledge and discussion. As a (likely) lifelong office drone, I can say without hyperbole that they've changed my life! Glad I'm not alone...
i took a break from listening to pods...but going to start back up again while exercising since i'm sick of hearing the same music at the gym everyday. i do think i'm finding out im pretty picky about what pods i want to listen to though. smodcast is really the only consistent one i enjoy. theres tons of shows where a few people just shoot the breeze but smod is just different for some reason. sklarbro country is another one i enjoy, WTF with maron...other than that i can't seem to find ones i find consistently decent episode to episode. i've looked into a lot of the ones suggested the most (TAL, radiolab, etc) they seem hit or miss for me...not sure why. for instance, i checked out an episode of the carolla/dr. drew pod...loved those two during their loveline days, and the most recent episode was carolla just going off about unions or something. the reviews were saying thats become of consistent thing with him. just political type rants. you made it weird seems to get a lot of mentions, i might try that out.
I mostly listen to comedy podcasts: Comedy Bang Bang Doug Loves Movies How Did This Get Made <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/TPXKNmlysz4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Superego <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/-csTt74SiJM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Improv4humans <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Zy-KKTAYLpM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Thrilling Adventure Hour Limited Run Podcasts: U Talkin' U2 To Me? <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/g3kZg5zsQZ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wdwOptg5eR0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Here are the podcasts I listen to that are currently running. Comedy: Comedy Bang Bang Jordan Jesse Go Stop Podcasting Yourself Judge John Hodgman Superego The Dead Authors Podcast Television: Fire Talk With Me (Twin Peaks podcast) X-Files Files (X-Files Podcast) History: The Memory Palace Interview: Bullseye with Jesse Thorn I enjoyed Andy Daly's Podcast Pilot Project while it was running. Comedy Bang Bang regular Lauren Lapkus just started a new podcast on Earwolf which I'm pretty excited about. First episode came out today and her first guest is Paul F. Tompkins.
Joe Rogan Podcast - when he has cool people on and he isn't in Alpha douche mode Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast - you have to be a fan but he is hilarious StarTalk with Neil deGrass Tyson - even if you are not a nerd its still pretty cool.
I don't get a douche vibe from rogan at all. Which is VERY surprising because of the whole ufc thing. When he has a fighter on that is probably the least interest I typically have. Even though sometimes they will delve into fitness. Otherwise a (I don't use this word lightly) superb listening the vast majority of the time.
That sounds pretty cool. I need to chill out on music when I work out. It's getting dull. A story sounds cool. I don't typically like audio books I prefer to read and actual physical book.
That's my top 3 most frequent right there. I like that there's this big circle of comedian friends who guest on each other's podcast and host their own. While wildly different the quality seems to be there no matter whom you pick. I wish Adam Scott & Scott Aukerman would keep going or do another podcast altogether.
Yeah, we have a whole thread devoted to it and everything. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=259510
