Any GM who even considers giving a top 20 pick for a guy who averaged 12/5 while barely shooting over 40% should be fired on the spot.

What for? He's going to be a super bargain. His contract is front-loaded so he will get paid less as the contract progresses.

Did you want Morey and Dawson fired when they made the Battier/Rudy Gay deal?

    We could flip the pick.

We could combine the pick with our pick and an asset for an even better pick to flip or keep.

if we keep the pick we've opened up a myriad of options for trades and/or free agent signings. Trading Ariza away for a pick means removing approximately $6 million in guaranteed salary. That's enough salary that we could open up max cap space and sign someone outright. Or we could use the threat of max cap space to get sign-and-trades done while staying above the cap and keeping our full MLE. There's a whole myriad of options available.

The pick we could get for Ariza plus the non-guaranteed salaries of Kostas/Pablo plus a young player like Terrence is worth more than Ariza in trade.

The Grizzlies were one of the worst teams in the West when that trade happened. They were in a different situation than we are right now.

Voted for the late 2nd rounder and instantly regretted. Non tanking teams without solid SF like Toronto, Atlanta, Wizards (rofl) would totally possibly might go for it. But why the freckles would WE even offer such a trade.

Do not trade Ariza unless we are getting an upgraded vet in return. Rookies do not win you championships.

Not that that I completely disagree, but why site an example from 30 years ago? That picture was taken when hand checking was allowed and there was no 3 point line... it might as well be a picture of Dr. Naismith as a rookie.

why would a lottery team want a glue guy who can hit the three with regularity? He is more of a piece for a contender.....

Because they want to contend. Notice I didn't put every team up there. I filtered for teams that want to compete. Charlotte and Miami aren't interested in the Lottery. They want to win NOW!

That wasn't my question. My question to Spoolxx (which he hasn't answered) was do you think Morey and CD should have been fired? They traded the #8 pick for a guy averaging a little over 10 points and 5 rebounds per game that was shooting a little under 40%.

By his own words he thinks Morey and CD should have been fired for trading their #8 pick for a guy not even averaging 12/5 while shooting below 40%. I simply asked him to confirm this is what he believed.

Over half of you think Ariza is worth somewhere between pick #9 and pick #15.

Boy if this were possible, I'd suggest we trade Ariza even more strongly.

it's not always about stats.. if you get points for great defense, he'll average more than 30

I will assume that this is just to see what hes value is to other teams and not an actual trade proposal.
Alone he could fetch tops #14 from okc. If u package him with #18 and #32 you can perhaps get #8.
