His stop and pop 15-18 foot jumper.

That's his most efficient weapon/move. But it doens't get any headlines because it's not "flashy" for ESPN.

Think about it. Think about what Horry said after the game.

The crossover frees up space because it places the defender in a very uncertain position. He's got to guard, though, against the threat of Steve's drive.

In that situation, Horry knew Steve wasn't going to drive. He was going to shoot the 3. Crossovers don't do anything if the drive-threat isn't credible.

1.His heart - Steve plays hard all the time. He dives for loose balls, he leaps out of bounds to save balls, and puts all his effort into every game. Sometimes it isn't the smartest effort, but he always plays hard, works hard in the gym, and on his game off the court.

    2. His ability to make his teammates better. This is done in ways other than passing. By drawing attention from defenses his teammates will be more open. This might have been the number one most underrated part of his game prior to this season when his shooting percentage dropped off. In Yao vs. Shaq I Steve was almost singlehandedly winning that game. And when the Lakers finally stepped in to stop STeve's drives he found Yao for that Slam. That's the most high profile example of what I'm talking about. By Steve's ability to beat defenders off the dribble it will force defenses to have to help. When that happens teammates are open or makes the defense have to rotate more which could lead to more open shots for his teammates. So while many people may think Steve doesn't make his teammates better because he doesn't pass the way Jason Kidd does, that doesn't mean he doesn't make his teammates better.
