I think it can be true, though obviously it depends on the configuration, but that was another thing that I really tried to research when deciding to switch. I also factored in things like software and such. But definitely the Macs can shoot up in price faster as you start to look at your options. EDIT: Also another thing that surprised me (though perhaps it shouldn't) was how bad the fanboys wars were over this subject. From exaggerating the crashing of Windows to making up all sorts of stuff about Apple, it's pretty damn vicious. And this is coming from a guy who reads a lot of video game forums. I thought that was bad.
1 Dell laptop running XP 1 Macbook running OS X 10.5 which may later run XP in VMWare Fusion 1 Desktop running Vista which in turn runs Solaris windowed in VMWare 6 1 Desktop running Vista and is just used as a tv for now I dig 'em all. I use my main Vista desktop the most though.
The new Ubuntu 8.1 has all that eye candy by default. And people who can't afford Windows could use Ubuntu.
