How about #18? It's the total when you add up 1368(1+3+6+8).

That was also Air Bullard's number! This could help his shoot better from long range, but I think Houston will retire that number in Matt's honour! :D

It would be something close to 8 or 9. Or that adds up to something to that since 8 means money and 9 is lucky. Nothing that adds up to zero, thats just bad luck.

#8, its a good luck number in China since it rhymes with wealth in mandarin.

    obviously he cant be
    22, 24, 23, 34, or 45
    most likely not
3,5,41, 33, and all the other numbers already on our team...
i dont understand why very very rarely you see basketball players ever pick a number over 55. can someone explain this to me? do teams have rules to make it easier for refs to call fouls? you know. if it was foul on 99 then thats a lot more work with their hands then foul on number 4. i have never understood this though, and its the only reason i can come up with.
    rodman was 91, 73, 70, and 10. i loved that.
why dont more players do that?
i hope ming picks a high number...
    79. why not.
    :(

According to the I Ching, lucky numbers are:

    1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8
    11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18
    21, 23 (retired by Rockets), 24 (retired by Rockets), 25, 29
    31, 32, 33, 35, 37, 39
    41, 45 (retired by Rockets), 47, 48
    52, 57
    63, 65, 67, 68
    73
    and 81

    moderately lucky numbers are:

    38, 51, 55, 58, 61, 71, 72, 75, 77, and 78

I also found this little quote on the web:

Sorry guy, BUT there's nothing you and the other "Ming hatas" can do about it. The Rockets WILL draft Ming and lots of us will cheer while a few will cringe. No use in getting worked up over it, it's pretty much a done deal so let's all just kick back and watch the "magic" unfold...

I'm against the 75 thing....everytime a guy puts his height on his jersey (ie Muresan 77, Bradley 76 at the beginning of his career...i dont remember what Bol's # was...i think 10 so that wouldnt apply here) but it didnt seem to work out well.

I like 1 (as in Year 1 of the Ming dynsaty or the #1 pick) or 89 (since we had 8.9 % chance of landing him)

    Yes! we ALL get it!:p
Actually, I've brought this issue up before in a thread. I prefer the "Carolina Blue" color scheme. I'm tired of the "hard" look the NBA is going to and want something with a more "friendly" and "upbeat" look! The logo and the letterings should also be changed; they're AWFUL! jmho...:D

    nope..

He can't use the number that will be retired soon..

Disclaimer:Everything below here is just my opinion based on lots of research.....but I don't pretend to know everything....I could be wrong.

I have seen you say this a few times now, what is the basis for this statement? Do you know for sure that he will? Why would he want to go somewhere else? For the money? He will probably not be the money-hungry type of player that we all know and expect from American-born players. The cultural aspects of his upbringing preach humbleness and team-oriented thinking, correct? If this is the case, these values would mean he is more likely to have loyalty to the team he is on. It would take more than a little extra money to make him abandon the team he is on.
    Oski,
You make an awful lot of negative statements about Ming, and you state them like they are established facts, where is your factual backup? Most of what we are all sayin are opinions, nothing more and nothing less...

he will want his current numbers, either 13 or 15. since cato is 13, ming will take 15.

Good numbers appear to be 15 (Yao's number in China and on the I Ching list earlier) and 18 (on the I Ching list, 8 is one of the #'s regarded as "lucky" and as mentioned the sum of digits for the year the Ming Dynasty began - 1368).
