Chance nailed mine. Clive Cussler writes a great adventure novel and several of them would make awesome books....assuming Ben Affleck has nothing to do with them that is.
You and Chance are right about that. Cussler is easily my favorite "non literatureā author. All of his novels would make excellent movies. If done correctly Dirk Pitt could easily be the next Bond.
If you want to read Connelly, you read should start from the beginning. "The Black Echo", "The Black Ice", and "The Concrete Blond" are the first three. They really establish the character of Harry Bosch. "A Darkness More than Night" is a crossover between Bosch and McCaleb from "Bloodwork". It's definitely different than the earlier ones. As for the Patterson adaptations, the books are much better. You are correct about the plot holes, but that's because the character of Alex Cross is way too complex for a two hour movie.
Good choices. There are several in here. The Miles Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold would be great on the big screen with the current CG. So would David Weber's "Honor" series. Anyone ever read "Mindswap", by Robert Sheckley? Hilarious SF and would make a great flick. I named the best dog the world ever knew after a character in the book (he had a bomb ticking in his nose). Harry Turtledove has written many excellent "alternate histories" that could make great movies. Heinlein's "The Green Hills of Earth" would be very topical. Poul Anderson's "The High Crusade" would be terrific. I'll rest for awhile.
Leto II does become a human/sandworm. And he does love a human woman, I'm not sure if that's what you are asking. They transcend to something beyond physical love. BTW Leto II and his Golden Path is the main subject of the Dune series. The first three books are about his origins, the 4th is about him, and the last three are about his effect on humanity. The 7th Dune book has yet to be released.
Dune is mentioned several times, I think a remake with modern special effects and a reworked script would be awesome. I didn't really like the movie, but I loved the book.
That's a great idea. I would love to see Terry Gilliam direct that as well. Another movie idea that would be good is a little known Dumas book, Chicot the Jester. Probably nobody has read the book, but it's smart, funny, action packed, romantic, etc. It's also packed with intrigue. It has everything people could want in a movie.
Cussler was really upset how "Raise The Titanic" turned out, so he decided not to allow any more Dirk Pitt novels to become movies. Until recently....he changed his mind.... http://www.roughedge.com/dirkpittpoll/pittmovienews.htm From the Tuesday, April 14, 2003 Hollywood Reporter McConaughey to join Crusader in 'Sahara' project April 14, 2003 Matthew McConaughey is in final negotiations to star in and executive produce Crusader Entertainment's big-screen adaptation of Clive Cussler's 1992 novel "Sahara" for director Breck Eisner. The project will begin production in the fall, with Paramount Pictures distributing. "Sahara" is the first installment of the author's best-selling Dirk Pitt series, about an intrepid adventurer and explorer. The book centers on Pitt (McConaughey) searching the Sahara for a toxin that is killing marine life. McConaughey will executive produce the project with Gus Gustawes, his producing partner in their j.k. livin prods. There are 13 Pitt books in Cussler's series, and Crusader hopes that "Sahara" will be the beginning of a franchise with McConaughey at the center. The actor, repped by ICM and attorney Kevin Morris, most recently starred in Paramount Pictures' "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and is attached to star in and produce the studio's romantic comedy "Dear Delilah" (HR 4/9). I think he meant a live action movie. The only reason I didn't like the Transformer movie was because they killed off all of my favorite guys, including Optimus. That was so dumb. Rodimus Prime is biatch.
I think George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series would make some serious money for movie companies if they do it right.
I think it was Megatron who whacked Starscream. He finally got tired of Starscream b****ing, I guess. Megatron wasn't really killed. He was basically dying, along with Skywarp and Thundercracker, when Unicron found them and turned them into: Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge, respectively. And yes, the TF movie did suck. Rather than making a potentially cool movie about outrageously cool toys, they killed off all the guys everyone knew and loved, and brought out a bunch of new guys in an attempt to get kids to whine enough to get their parents to buy them all the new figures, which worked, more or less, but TF just wasn't as cool anymore.. :sigh: Such is the way of things.
