I watched Queen of the Damned and couldn't make heads or tails of it until I listened to the director's commentary ( while I was doing chores). It was crazy how much they changed it from the book AND the lack of continuity between the first movie and this movie was weird.
The old one was a classic, I still enjoy playing it whenever I happen to stumble across it. Also, I believe a new Rocky movie is in the works, along with another Rambo movie. Please don't hold that to me though...
That's funny, didn't even know superheroes had sex. You figure once they shoot their #$!@, the girl would go into orbit, ala Scary Movie, or tear up their insides like that one Harlan Ellison short story.
Ender's Game, The Silmarillion, and all 6 books in the Dune series. In fact, I've already got some actors in mind for Dune. Duke Leto - Ed Harris Paul - Ewan Macgregor
Stallone is gonna be the new villian in the next Spy Kids movie. I remember reading a pretty funny article by Harry K at Aint it Cool News where he was invited on the set by Rodriguez while Sly was there shooting some scenes. Funny stuff.
It's been a while for me, but (spoiler below) . . . . . . doesn't Paul's son turn into a worm like creature in book 3 or 4 and has this unrequited love thing for centuries? It's hard for me to picture this working. Elephant man sort of. IIRC it does have epic scope but all the lesbian action may also make this sort of hard to make as well, i.e. not mainstream sort of stuff.
Loved the first one, was somewhat disappointed in the Spy Kids sequel, still liked it. The DVD extras stuff was very cool for the second one. I think part of it was recognizing all the Austin area landmarks and the Big Bend places as well.
Let's get away from the fantasy world for a minute... I'm a huge fan of the author Michael Connelly. He wrote the book "Bloodwork" from which the movie was made. Most of his other books are centered around a police detective named Harry Bosch. I would love to see a movie or two based on the Bosch series of books. Being a fan of murder/detective stories, anything based on a John Sandford book or more of James Patterson's stories would be nice.
I read A Darkness More than Night and liked it and although I didn't see who did it at the beginning, it seemed like the Agatha Christie like red herring at the beginning was a bit much, I knew that was not the correct suspect right away. Were the movies Kiss the Girls or Along Came a Spider good adaptations? I watched both and thought there were a ton of plot holes that made them hard to swallow. (haven't read the books)
Anyone ever read any of Greg Donegan's stuff? He publishes under two names, and does the Area 51 series and the Atlantis Gate series. I'd like to see some of that stuff done into a movie - great action/sci-fi stuff. Also Matthew C. Reilly has some good stuff that is tailor made for movies.
I haven't read this whole thread....but I got a hilarious idea! Have Yao play a rockstar. Just make the movie about the rockstar's life, with Yao playing the rockstar!
