Morey is a rookie GM. He is definitely not a genius, or a wizard. I think he has done a great job (as a rookie) and has potential to be a great GM if we give him time. Morey is a keeper. I definitely want a rebuilding team to have Morey as GM. He just need to work on the tanking thing, now. I will consider Morey did a good job if he can do either of these: 1: bring in a star. 2: trade away Scola or Martin or any contracts and team gets worse. 3: trade assets for future lottery picks.
The bad thing about splashy moves is more often than not they don't work. Dallas thought they were being splashy when they brought in Kidd, PHX thought they were being splashy when they brought in Shaq. Cleveland thought they were being splashy when they brought in Larry Hughes and Orlando sure as hell thought they were splashy when they brought in first Rashard Lewis and then Arenas. For the record though DM likes splashy moves as much as you do. Its just that he wants splashy moves that don't have franchise-crippling effects. In the meanwhile he'll go for the quick wins. Its a strategy I wholeheartedly agree with, taking 3 steps forward then 4 steps back in just one move isn't really my thing.
No, but New York was contending in the mid 90s. They could have beaten us and won the title in 94. Then they fell off the map for more than a decade with no hope to even make the playoffs in a weak East. I guess Boston might have been a better example for my point. Utah has been relevant almost every year in the past two decades even though they never won anything.
Great at collecting so called assets who nobody's interested in. I really think people are laughing their asses off at the Rockets and Morey.
He's the best farm system maker in the NBA...Our assets only rivals those of the LA Clippers pre -Blake...But they call their farm system the starting lineup
Morey is the MONEYBALL. It only works if other teams are interested in saving MONEY. It only attracts teams that are looking to save, but the team that ARE looking to save, are the teams with a bad record (scrubs).
I am having that same errie feeling that somehwere someone is laughing at the Rockets. Oh wait? No thats me. I really wanted to see his plan unfold but its a dud so far. I want him to get something done at least for the center position. Is that too much to ask or am I just a cluster f#%K like Morey with that kind of thinking? I dont know people keep saying Moreys great out one side of their mouths. Then post back that would do we expect for a bunch of scrubs. Either he built a team of scrubs nobody wants or he made the team into alot of assets. There is no either or I would think.
aaron brooks goes from MIP shooting 43% from the field and 40% from 3 to a guy shooting 35% from the field and 28% from 3. chase buddinger goes from 44% fg and 37% from 3 to 41% fg and 30% from 3 Two guys I would have considered solid tradeable assets pre season just destroyed their value with their play this season. Pretty tough to pin that on morey.
What makes him great is that he does not listen to the increasing number of assclowns on this once-great forum.
^ The standard for "great" has been greatly reduced. What was once "common sense" is now "great." Such is the trend of our hyper-media-fied, increasingly misinformed society. So yeah, it's great.
I literally want to strangle half of our fanbase. Its like spoiled children pointing at things they want and whining/crying till they get thier way.
I'd say within the last week, I've hit the reply button a lot of times to respond to the lunacy, only to change my mind and attempt to ignore it. The worst part is when they start piling on and agreeing with each other.
