lol really?? where were you in 2009 when he traded Donte Greene and Bobby Jackson for Ron Artest. Fans from every team were talking about the Rockets, the experts had the Rockets as 1 of the 2 best teams in the west and tops in the league.. other teams fans were predicting a lakers/rockets WCF, multiple fan sites had 20-35 page threads about how the rockets were gonna defend their team and how much trouble it was gonna be trying to stop them.. (i remember a thread on one of the lakers fansites was around 60 pages) Really... its not moreys fault tmac acted like a little girl and destroyed the hope this city had..

considering this franchise really has no upside at the moment and is becoming increasingly irrelevant in the nba landscape, i find myself asking the same question.

i've never been this down on the rockets, ever. i just don't see any scenario, barring winning the lottery, where this team does anything positive in the next couple seasons.

it's just sports man! plus, 16 years of disappointment has a way of numbing people. but hey, at least they're consistent in something!

why do we think that Morey works longer and harder than anybody else? where do we get that?

    how do you define value?

splashy, big, sexy moves transform teams...what's so bad about that? yeah, i'd hate to see us make a big move. i want us to meagerly stay the course with this group..we'll just tweak it here and there. I loved it when we acquired Drexler...I thought that was kinda splashy. I really liked it when we acquired Artest...I thought that was kinda splashy.

I don't see it as valuable to say we've steered clear of "splashy"....I give him credit for avoiding bad contracts...but if acquiring a bad contract at some point means more wins, I could not care less. Ultimately, it's about the end...not the means.

Not sure who thinks he works longer or hard than other GMs I think the majority of Clutchfans would argue he is smarter though.

if him being smarter translates to the Rockets being more competitive, I'm all for it.

if being lucky is more important, then I hope he's every bit as lucky as he is smart.

    Agreed.

Even if the analogy holds, I don't think it's necessarily a good thing. Buffett is known for consistency. There are 10 teams in the top 1/3 of the league, but only 1 team wins a title each year.

The Astros have been consistently good over the 15 years or so. And maybe others would disagree, but I'd trade our history for the Marlins' and their 2 titles in a heartbeat.

I don't know. I think it is debatable whether it is better to be competitive year in and year out, or to win a championship or two and then wait for two hopeless decades for another shot.

Is it better to be Utah or New York in the past two decades, seeing what have just happened?

Easy. It is never better to be Utah. :)

(I don't understand the analogy -- neither Utah nor New York have won anything in the last 20 years).

I think the right answer is most fans on the board would they say the championship is the only thing that matters. Of course they would also probably deride the team for the hopeless decade and eventually stop following them, but that's neither here nor there.

hes not so great, the only people who say so are the ones who have been clouded by their bias.

Fact is he has done nothing to push the rockets past that threshold, and thats what you use to determine how good he is.

He is mediocre for the moves he did make, but the guy is a double edge sword, his lack of understanding of the deeper elements when it comes to NBA affairs is what hurts him the most. Its not just a numbers game. Believe it or not.

So you're saying the Rockets should have improved after losing two franchise players to injury? How do you figure?

This is the year and deadline to judge him by. Hes collected these assets to move for a better piece if that doesn't happen he should start to get the criticism. I really like him, but have for a while questioned the direction and strategy. The next 24 futures will tell us alot. Him telling us hes writhing the phones doesn't cut it we need the results and that needs to be a big man or more picks to get a big at the top of the draft.

We're not even two freakin' years since we lost both Tmac and Yao Ming. WTF do you expect, for DM to create superstars out of thin air? Look at other teams who lost their stars like Toronto and Cleveland and compare their rosters to ours.

The people who say DM hasn't done a good job doesn't know what they're talking about, there's just no other way to put it.

 Ill give him to the offseason and draft. Then its on to next year and the trade deadline. Then after that? Maybe Morey gets my wrath.
