It might not be a scam. It sounds like you're qualifying leads that this guy gets in bulk. Make no mistake- you ARE making a sell. If you're really good at it, this guy will close a lot and make you more money. As stated in the ad, the best get promoted to closers. Give it a try. I got started in sales by answering a random paper ad. While it's not what I still do, it was a very good living.

I can really relate to this. Not long out of college, I'm sporting a Computer Science BS degree and it's not doing anything for me immediately following the Dot com bubble bursting. I've been struggling trying to find any job that payed well enough to sustain me for as long as I needed until I found a job in the software industry. But I swear employers can sense that kind of ****, and no one would hire me because they figured I'd just bolt the second any opportunity arose. So I see an ad in the paper for the same advertising agency scam someone else mentioned in this thread. I didn't know anything about it, so I showed up for the interview. I feel better in retrospect knowing that I was far from the only person who fell for this and one of the younger ones. I was interviewed in a group of three with two other guys with manager and marketing experience. I basically stated that I didn't expect to get the job during the interview (yeah, I know) because I didn't have any experience in the industry. Little did I know, I was EXACTLY the kind of guy they were looking for. Much to my excitement, they call me and offer me the job. My first day was to just be "training" with some other people and then the real work would start. So I show up in slacks, a dress shirt and dress shoes. Then find out I would be beating the streets with two assholes trying to sell coupons to house wives. They told me they would pay for my lunch, but that didn't happen either. When I told these two douchebags after lunch that this job wasn't for me, they basically told me they wouldn't take me back to the office (we all drove out in their car) and I had to find my own way if I wasn't going to stick it out. So I called up a friend and had her come get me. Not long after that (less than a week), my car burned up and died. So I dragged my sorry ass back home to Houston to live with my dad until I found something better and slowly ascended again. That crap was rock bottom, and I forever have a hatred in my heart for these type of scam jobs that people pull.
