ALL in 1 phone - BUILT IN GPS - tomtom navigation 2.0 megapixels 2g sd memory Window mobile 6.0 I got this while visiting Taiwan, and is the best phone I've seen. (was able to convert from the original chinese window to english from some forum sites) price listed $800 brought for $500
I have played with it. My friend bought it and I got to mess around with it for a while. Honestly, I don't think its worth all that money. I have a HTC Wizard. It runs Windows Mobile 6 and it too has a touchscreen, wifi internet and even a slide out keyboard (along with a touchscreen kb). Combined with third-party applications (mainly freeware), I also can view Youtube vids plus similar sites like dailymotion, google, ect. and installed some touch friendly applications also. iPhone doesn't allow other companies to develop software for the phone and that's what I dislike the most besides the price tag. The most important part, my phone only cost me $140. Now, it may not look as good or has as powerful specs, but it does just about every thing the iPhone can do but for a fraction of the cost. It all comes down to money for me. I guess you could say I'm cheap.
The biggest gripe I have with iPhone is data speed. No G3! As for me: Tilt, baby. Got it yesterday. Music? No problem. Wi-Fi? Yep. Blackberry? Sho nuff. GPS+Google Mobile Maps=free GPS. Use as a modem? Check. G3 speed. Yes.
If you don't mind me asking, through which provider, how much was the phone, and how much is internet access?
I will be getting the LG Voyager and switching to Verizon in a couple of weeks! I love that phone, I fell in love when I saw it.
Official 3rd party apps are coming early next year. If you jailbreak your phone now, though, you have access to some killer apps (most accessible through an easy-to-use installer program), like emulators, chat, games, remote access, etc. I think you mean 3G. And the 3G iPhone has been confirmed by Apple as debuting next year.
Right now I have this Nokia. It works just fine. Haven't had many problems with it whatsoever. However, I'm curious as to what the "real" advantages are with a Blackberry? What exactly does it do that is so impressive compared to a typical cell phone?
treo 750 everything is good...except... screen resolution 240x240 no built in wifi, gotta get the microSD wifi card kinda bulky but still slimmer than most other treo's battery could be better
Just an FYI, T Mobile will give you a new free phone every two years with a new contract signup. ie. the phone I posted above I was able to get for free.
A couple of things I didn't mention about the Tilt: It's skype compatable. So data+skype's pc to landline service for $3 means you can use it as a PC phone and not waste your cell phone minutes on outgoing calls. This means that you can get a lower minute plan, which saves you money. Granted, I haven't tested the quality, but it's possible. I also installed Remote Desktop. While controlling your PC from a tiny phone isn't awesome, it's sure useful in a pinch. And it comes pre-installed with the big 3 IM clients. No problem. It's through AT&T. Here's their rundown: So it's $300 with a new contract. There are different data plans. I pay $45 for the blackberry connect (which is reimbursed to me by my job). The prices range $40-$50ish. I also get a 14% corporate discount. Lots of cell phone providers have unadvertised discount programs with larger employers. It pays to check into it. I did mean 3G, of course. Silly me. The iPhone has tons of potential. It's just not there yet. Out of the box it's just not that great yet. I work with a guy who has maximized it's potential and it rocks for him. But for most people, hacking anything is too scary. I'm looking forward to future iPhones- if they can make them business worthy, I can probably justify getting reimbursed by my job.
Correction: For a $18 upgrade fee, you can get a free phone every two years with a contract renewal. Bastards!
I added core player to it ysterday so now I have a divx player as well. I just figured out the whoel touchflo thing so that si pretty awesoem also.
