Yea I love my car. It's the first new from a dealer car I've ever owned and I haven't been disappointed with it yet.
Oh I'm sure they are nothing compared to some folks around here, but I like them and that's what matters right? I work in software development. Been doin' it a while (still feel like a novice all the time), and I do "ok" for myself now. It certainly wasn't always the case.
2008 BMW 528i. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/tstJ86oM0FfaROW4jJ2F4Q?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uIigeY7ROGw/SRd8TSS4qXI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/A24Ms4zQ0dE/s400/IMG_0726.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/TrayHarrison/TheBeamer?feat=embedwebsite"></a></td></tr></table> Pros: Handling, smooth ride, beautiful interior, free maintenance, i-drive, handling. Cons: The acceleration is a bit lacking.
ive been eyeballing this car for awhile.... but too bad they dont have it in automatic. how's the gas mileage?
Was going to say you must live in Australia, the last bastion of cheap rear wheel drive v8's - then I checked your profile
2006 Acura TL: Pros : - Handles really well, and has a very smooth ride - Luxurious, and spacious interior - Just overall has a very nice look and feel to it - Reliable (I mean, it IS a Honda after all....) Cons: - Has the turning radius of a semi - Gas mileage is a little lacking - Not QUITE as powerful as I wished, but it's still got a little kick to it
mine - 2001 black E320 (not actual picture) pros: single windshield wiper, engine, acceleration, gas mileage, classic body cons: not AMG, electrical wife's - 2006 pewter R320 (not actual picture) pros: wife and kids love it, looks decent for a minivan, can seat upto 7, roomier than it looks cons: I end up driving it's sluggish ass on weekends
Yeah we are pretty lucky. You get a lot of car for the price. I believe the Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores are about the best value cars you could buy anywhere in the world.
2007 Chevy Impala LT V6 Pros: LOTS of trunk space, nice sounding engine, very smooth ride Cons: Gas mileage , total mileage (it was a used vehicle b4), There were some stains on the interior I couldn't get out and it is light
98 Mustang GT. 245 HP 275/40/17 tires rear 245/45/17 tires upfront Mac O/R H pipe Flowmaster exhaust system. underdrive pulleys. it's headturner, any one wanna race just holla at me.
2006 Mazda6 (not mine) Pros: Paid off. I like sedans and this one's got some decent kick to it (although I do wish I'd gotten the V6). Not a ricer car and actually atypical for someone in my age range. Gas mileage is better than expected (26 MPH with me being one of those assholes who guns it out of every stop). Maintains well, haven't had a problem for 65k miles. Will be a good daily driver whenever it's time for a status symbol car. Cons: Steering radius is surprisingly wide. Not really the best looking car (got it because my first car was a 1996 Camry...nostalgia). I don't really know if this is a car problem or tire problem...but I've tried 3 different sets of tires on my car and they all seem to wear really quickly, especially in the front.
I havent read every post, but Ill bet I have a car no one else has. Our Aussie friends may recognize the base styling as it is at it's core a Holden Commodore but with Pontiac badges. Pros: It will whip 90% of the cars out there with its 6.0L V8 Rear wheel drive Plenty of room internally(fits 5 full sized adults easily) Huge trunk Onstar\XM Looks great Cons: Bad mileage (17 round town)
I've run 3 of these and roasted all three with my VQ35HR—3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine. Of course, I'm modded pretty well, but still. You guys should be more polite and at least wave when you get beat instead of rolling your windows up and being all douchey.
So the question arises from this thread why doesn't gm bring holden to the states and what foreign models would you like seen here...
1) Considering I havent seen three others of that car in the 10 months I have owned it, I doubt seriously you have found three of them to race. Of the two others I have seen, one was driven by a younger girl and the other by a middle aged guy like me...hardly the types to street race. 2) IF (a big IF considering my racing days are long past) I were to race you, it would be with my windows up already seeing as its too damn hot round here. I just wish GM would be smart and bring the Holden over under a different badge like Chevy or Buick. It gets universal great marks from all the consumer car orgs and from owners of the existing 2009 G8s....Ive read tons of people saying they wished they could buy two and keep one in the garage till they wear out their first one....thats how much they love that car. I saw pics of the Ute, and I would gladly buy one of those so as to have the Holden performance combined with truck bedspace for carrying my nasty work stuff. Make it happen GM.
Rockets2K, my Mum actually owns a 2005 Holden Commodore SV6, which I guess is the little brother of the V8 you have. She got it second hand, and we think its been modded some how because, my car has a fair bit of grunt, and its a comparative model to hers although its a Ford. However her car has an atomic bomb under the accelerator! The size and weight of the car just does not effect the acceleration in her SV6. I dont understand why Ford isn't sending Falcons overseas and Holden isn't doing the same with the Commodore. They do to a few countries but they are re-badged and slightly restyled....which I think makes them look horrible. I'm not chest beating because they are built in Australia, a good car is a good car. But as I said, value for money.....they are a lot of car for a good price and they kick some arse at traffic lights!
Even tho I had read how fast it was prior to buying it, I am still amazed something that heavy has the acceleration it does(0-60 in 5 seconds)...and I have read the V6 version has some serious kick to it also.(IIRC, 0-60 in 7) Yeah, its not like we have a ton of great cars over here...we certainly could use some better models from whatever country makes them. Its ok to be proud, I doubt most Americans would even know that there are some great car models coming from Australia....the G8 has certainly convinced me. FTR...I bought it for 28K with the full sport and premium packages, the only extra I didnt get was the sunroof. Considering it was built to take on the Euro sports sedans for half the price, Id call that one helluva price point. Any thoughts on the Ute Chris? I like the way they look, and I understand the performance is on-par with the sedans.
